Ritual of Love album reflected exactly where I was in my life. I had fallen in love, moved to Minnesota, and started working with the legendary Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I was growing personally and creatively, and you can hear it in the music.
We had “Romantic,” which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, along with “The Way I Feel About You,” “Tears of Joy,” “Do Unto Me,” and so many others.
I always say Ritual of Love had a dance-me side and a romance-me side. You could dance to it, fall in love to it, and romance to it.
I was blessed to create alongside incredible writers, producers, and musicians, including Michael J. Powell, Laney Stewart, Tony Haynes, Christopher Troy, Zac Harmon, Gary Hines, Lawrence Waddell, and Bruce Sterling.
Thirty-five years later, it means so much that these songs are still part of your lives. We share this history now.
