LEVEL 26: Blooming Blossoms - CHANGE
I have way too many thoughts on this level. This project has been the center of my life for 9 months now. Its weird to have this done.
Heres something a bit corny, but it means a lot to me
12/9/24:
For a long time, "BLOOMING BLOSSOMS" as a project has had many different meanings to me. But my original meaning, which i had replaced and changed so many times before, is probably the meaning most prevalent now.
Blooming Blossoms is a level about change. Its a story about a kid in the hardest times of his life finding light in the darkness. A story about a kid growing up in an unfamiliar place and having to leave everything you knew behind. A story about a kid finding comfort in the new things, even if they aren't the same as before. A story about a kid navigating events that someone their age should have never gone through.
That kid is me.
As a kid I always found comfort in nature. I grew up in suburban Georgia, but my backyard was an entire forest. I would go out there almost every day and find myself wandering and playing in the nature. Playing pretend, playing with friends, and playing with neighborhood kids I had never met. I did it all there. We would play in the overgrown play forts, make bridges over the creek with fallen logs, and have snowball fights in the winter.
And then I moved to Chicago in the summer of 2019. I moved to a neighborhood which was devoid of nature. No forests, no open untouched fields, no non flat terrain, it all felt so artificial. I missed home
That was a big change, but as the years went by with more and more change happening. My parents got a divorce, I lost my dog, we moved again, a had multiple mental health crisis's, and my dad even passed away a little over a year ago. So much happened in such a short timespan, I didnt know what to do.
In around March of 2024, I started Blooming Blossoms. It was what I was working on to escape from the harshness of life. It felt like my own project that I could make whatever quality I wanted because I had shown it to nobody. So there was no expectations.
But over time my own personal expectations increased along with general expectations because I publicly showed the level.
From March to now, so much in my life has changed. I have finally worked out my identity, I have got friends who I trust with my life and who fully accept me for who I am, I've explored new interests, and on and on and you get it
so much has changed. so much about me has changed
this level represents change in the rawest meaning of the word
The nature aspect of the level, those ruins surrounded by nature, slowly transitioning into a more industrial landscape, represents the change in my life. The change from a more simple time to a more complex life, with a change in environment along the way.
Corny I know, but this level means a lot to me.
