I compare a cheap $30 HDMI to component analog converter from Amazon with a high quality SDI to Analog converter from Blackmagic Design. Unsurprisingly, you get what you pay for. I wasted weeks trying to find a decent unit on Amazon, but it turns out there are hundreds of variants of the cheap unit and they all are pretty janky when it comes to quality and signal integrity. I pull out the oscilloscope and compare their outputs and do a quick overview of the PCB circuit design.
