This is episode 5, painting 3 of our 30 Days of Art Challenge! In this video, we'll be using thin, transparent layers to build texture, shape, and color, all while painting a landscape full of expressive brushstrokes. I had no idea what I was going to paint when I started, so you'll get to see the process I go through, including how I pick an underpainting and why, deciding what techniques to use for different elements, color selection, and more. You're also going to see this painting go through a few serious hot mess phases, but every one of them was essential to the final look of the painting!

I’m painting on a 5x7-inch stretched canvas, but you can paint on any type and size of canvas you like.
I used:
• #8 bright
• A pencil
• Matte Fluid Medium
• A few paper towels
• All brushes are available on my website here: bit.ly/2n5xDF0
I’m using Liquitex Heavy Body acrylic paint in the following colors:
• Unbleached Titanium White
• Titanium White
• Mars Black
• Ultramarine Blue (Red Shade)
• Cadmium Yellow Light
• Burnt Umber
• Alizarin Crimson
• Cadmium Red Medium
But you can use any colors you like.
