There are three tips or "rules" that every single Youtube video has to follow if you want to grow on Youtube, if you break any of these rules, the video will AGGRESSIVELY underperform. If your videos aren’t performing the way you want, then it is because you aren’t following these three rules.
After making 80 videos, and having a combined 9 Million Views, I’ve learned that the entire Youtube algorithm, and I mean the entire Youtube algorithm comes down to two things.
Your Click-through rate, and your retention rate, aka all Youtube wants is for you to make people click on your videos, watch them for as long as possible, and then click another video they suggest, and keep watching. Both MrBeast and Susan Wojcicki have confirmed these are the crucial but simple rules for Youtube growth.

How Long Should Youtube Videos Be?
If you want to grow on Youtube, as I have said before, having a clickable video is KEY to all of that but having an engaging video is KING of everything.
If you have two videos that both get 100 views, and both have a 50% retention rate but one of them is 10 minutes and another is 20 minutes. The 20-minute video has 1000 minutes of watch time, but the 5-minute video only has 500 minutes of watch time. The higher watch time video will often perform better.
That said, don’t make long videos for the sake of it, you should instead make engaging videos with good content, as well as use hooks and loops. A hook is what I use at the start of my videos to intrigue you and get you keen to hear more, and a loop is where I mention that something else you’re interested in is coming up soon. A Youtube Video should aim to be as long as you can maintain your audience's attention.
