The Danish String Quartet and Johannes Rostamo, cello
Tonight's concert features nothing less than a world premiere. In 2020, The Danish String Quartet introduced the project "Doppelgänger". A four-year international project where commissioned works by living, recognized composers are performed alongside masterpieces by Schubert, who served as the inspiration for the entire project. The project's final work is a new string quintet by the world-famous English composer Thomas Adès, written for The Danish String Quartet. This quintet will have its world premiere this evening at Series of Four. Naturally, one can also experience Thomas Adès's inspiration, Schubert's legendary string quintet, known as one of the absolute greatest works of classical music.
