I wanted to get a USB powerbank to run gopro for longer recordings, the internal battery lasts about an hour.
I bought a 10,800mah Floureon USB power bank on ebay for £8/$12, so tried it out today, it ran the camera until the memory card ran out (16Gb card, just under 3 hours) and still had over half capacity left according to indicator LEDs, so I need to get a 32Gb card to max it out.
One thing to be aware of is I first tried this with a thin USB cable, and it could only carry 0.25Amps, not enough to run the gopro, so battery still ran flat, I changed for a thicker cable which ran 1.3Amps fine (I have a USB voltage/current monitor) and gopro then ran continuously and was actually charging while recording.
The video shows some interesting sky and cloud shapes, so I've compressed this x16 in windows movie maker, then x4 in first pass using HMS12, then ~x2 to fit the music.
