Netflix just released its first teaser trailer for the upcoming sci-fi series Three Body Problem at their Tudum event in Brazil. While this teaser looks amazing, it raises some questions for fans who have the books. 3 Body is based on Liu Cixin's book series "Remembrance of Earth's Past" which is comprised of three volumes: "The Three Body Problem", "The Dark Forest", and "Death's End". From the teaser trailer, it appears to capture the essence of the first book.
The Netflix version has an international cast which is a major departure from the beginning of the series which took place primarily in China. While 3 Body becomes international as the whole planet deals with the Crisis of the Trisolarian fleet's arrival, this version may feel a little different. This video breaks down the teaser and discusses how we expect the first season to play out.

Based on the bestselling and critically acclaimed novels by Chinese author Liu Cixin, the mystery thriller series from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo (True Blood), explores humanity’s response to its gravest threat. “The unknown troubles us,” says legendary author and astronomer Carl Sagan’s voice-over in the tense teaser. “There are those who say we should not inquire too closely into who else might be living in that darkness.”
Despite that notion, we meet a young woman whose fateful decision in ’60s China reverberates across space and time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day.
