Three accused “tomb raiders” are in custody after investigators say they traveled across at least nine states stealing jewelry and family heirlooms from mausoleums containing cremated remains.

Drake Lee Milam, 33, his girlfriend Porsche Bancroft, 32, and her mother Angela Garrett, 52, are accused of breaking into mausoleum niches and stealing valuables left with the deceased.

In Florida alone, authorities are investigating about 20 cases across Orange, Seminole and Hillsborough counties and Winter Park, involving more than $35,000 in stolen property.

The suspects face charges including injuring or removing a tomb or monument, disturbing the contents of graves or tombs, and grand theft of more than $20,000.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify additional victims and determine the full extent of the alleged crimes.

Authorities are also urging people with loved ones in mausoleums to check whether jewelry, heirlooms or other valuables are missing.
