Photographing The Northern Lights in the UK - a once in a lifetime aurora event! Leigh Windridge Photography 2024-05-12 | After a little bit of a tip off about a potential chance of seeing the northern lights I picked a location that might work for some shots in the Yorkshire Wolds and set off in the van for the 90 mile trip knowing that I should arrive just about when it was getting dark.All I can say is wow! Kingfisher photography - the holy grail of birds and a lesson in patience! Leigh Windridge Photography 2024-09-25 | In wildlife photography there's one bird that always gets more attention than most - the Kingfisher!Maybe it's the fact that it's so elusive and spotting one takes patience and being in the right place at the right time, or is it that it's such a striking bird? Well that's what happened to me in the Lake District at the beginning of August. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25X IS PRO Leigh Windridge Photography 2024-08-21 | After a long time using the 300mm f/4 Pro and being more than happy with the results I managed to have a go with Big White - the M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25X IS PRO top of the range Olympus wildlife lens.Unfortunately, this made me want one really bad - so I did quite a bit of saving and came up with enough to buy one used from MPB at a pretty good price (about half the £6799.99 retail). Black And White Photography Along Spurn Point - This Was Brutal! Leigh Windridge Photography 2024-05-15 | We've visited Spurn Point on the East Yorkshire coast a few times but never made it all the way down in the daylight due to the tide times and running the risk of being cut off at high tide so this time it was going to happen.Except the wind got up, a lot, and then some more!So a complete washout on getting the coastline photographed turned into a hike down the peninsular to the lighthouses at the end and I think it worked out rather well in the end.A real black and white only sort of day that ended up being a real treat despite the conditions.I mention a couple of videos in the vlog, the first being the old settlement and houses on Spurn Point. Photographing Padley Gorge - the fairy-tale forest where the fog went missing!! Leigh Windridge Photography 2024-05-08 | So the night before the planned shoot was here, the fog had descended in a thick veil over the Peak District and things were looking like it would be perfection in the morning.I bedded down in the van like a child on Christmas Eve anticipating glorious foggy conditions in the woods, this was going to be amazing!The morning came, fog was still around before dawn so it was a quick dash down to Padley Gorge expecting the amazing conditions to be there waiting.They weren't! The the clouds arrived on the way with the forecast of rain later on.Well, after the rain started as we arrived it slowly turned into an epic failure! There was no light, the winds had gotten up again and the rain just got worse!Still, I think I managed to get a few shots off, but this was definitely not what I'd call a successful trip!
