Grok 4 Fast just dropped with a bonkers 2,000,000-token context and claims of up to 2.5x GPT-5 API speed while matching results.
It’s multimodal, trained end to end for tool use, and reportedly uses 40 to 50% fewer thinking tokens than peers.
xAI says it tops LMArena Search Arena and performs strongly on text, plus pricing is wild: $0.20 per 1M input, $0.50 per 1M output, which they frame as 23 to 25x cheaper than comparable setups and on average 47x cheaper than Grok 4 due to shorter reasoning.
Caveat: these are xAI’s numbers.
