Western Gun was Taito's original Japanese version, also released in Europe, while Gun Fight was Midway's North American adaptation. There are differences between Western Gun and Gun Fight:
The original Western Gun was the first open-world video game, the first action-adventure video game, and the first real-time tactical cover shooter. The two cowboy gunslingers had free-roaming movement across a single-screen open-world environment, littered with cacti and mountains that could be used as cover, while attempting to shoot each other. However, Western Gun had more primitive sprite graphics and animation, and used discrete-logic hardware (lacking a microprocessor).
The North American version Gun Fight introduced a microprocessor, allowing more detailed larger sprite graphics and smoother animation, but limited the gameplay. In Gun Fight, each player's movement was limited to their own side of the screen, whereas the original Japanese Western Gun had free-roaming movement across anywhere on the screen. Gun Fight also reduced the scale of the environment, with mountains no longer being present.

Qwak! is a single-player duck hunting light gun shooter arcade game developed by Atari and released in November 1974. In the game, ducks fly one at a time across the screen, and the player shoots at them using a light gun attached to the game cabinet. The player gets three shots per duck; ducks change direction away from missed shots and fall to the bottom of the screen when hit. A screen overlay adds images of reeds and a tree branch, and an image of a duck is added to a row at the top of the screen whenever a duck is hit. Games continue until a time limit, set by the machine operator, is reached.

A short introduction to ITS
youtube.com/watch?v=MwhsdO0avuU&t=1s
Windows users:
________________
The programs need to run some files in Linux so the first step is to download:
Cygwin (similar to a Linux distribution on Windows)
________________
You can download it here:
cygwin.com try setup-x86_64.exe
________________
and when installing, don´t forget to mark these files:
for C compiler install gcc. You will also need a program called "expect". and Probably also the SDL library, or "libsdl" and "MAKE" the newer versión.
with cygwin installed you can clone the Git hub repository found here:
ITS GitHub repository: http://github.com/PDP-10/its
(ITS is like the Operating system and we need to mount in the emulator)
________________
Now open the Cygwin console:
________________
you can clone a repository by selecting the green button "code" in github, and the copy the URL provided, then go to the cygwin console and use the command clone and paste the url.
________________
Note that cygwin directory Will be like this
C:\cygwin\home
________________
*[In cygwin and in CMD, you can reach the directory by tipping CD in the console and then grabbing the folder in the file explorer and moving the folder directly to the console] + Enter
________________
with the repository of ITS now, you´ll need to use “Make” in cygwin to build the repository.
like this:
________________
make EMULATOR=pdp10-ka
__________
(the repository includes a Makefile (file) that contains the instructions to build the disk image and leaves built files in the "out" directory, one of which is a disk image with ITS installed.
(With cygwin)
go to "its" directory
_______
example:
crono@Krono /cygdrive/c/cygwin/home/crono/its
$
_______
(being crono replaced by your username)
and then write
./start (Enter)
After that, you Will see a
DSKDMP prompt
Now Write:

Tank was designed by Steve Bristow, who had previously worked on Computer Space, and was developed by Lyle Rains The game was commercially successful, selling over 10,000 units and buoying Atari's then-troubled finances. It led to a cocktail cabinet release of the game and to four sequels: Tank II (1974), Tank III (1975), Tank 8 (1976), and Ultra Tank (1978). The joysticks for the game, however, became the standard joystick controllers for the Atari 2600 (1977).

Wander is both a text adventure game and a tool for creating interactive fiction; it describes itself as "a tool for writing non-deterministic fantasy stories".[2] The game comes with one such story, named "a3", along with instructions for authors to write their own stories that the game can parse.
In the story included with the game, the player takes the role of a First Under-secretary to the Ambassador for an organization called Corps Diplomatique Terrestrienne (CDT). Sent by Mr. Magnan to the mysterious country Aldebaran III, the player's mission to prevent up an uprising against Terran nationals in a limited time.

Wander was probably the first computer game that is recognisable as what came to be known as a “text adventure” (or “interactive fiction”) – pre-dating even ADVENT (a.k.a. Colossal Cave) by Crowther and Woods!
But Wander was more than that because it seems to have been designed to be a tool to allow users to create “non-deterministic fantasy stories” of their own.

W.I.N. - Word, Image, Number is one of four add-on games released for the Magnavox Odyssey in 1973. It works with game card #4 originally supplied with the system.
Each player picks 2 word cards, 2 number cards, and 1 image card. They then take turns at the console in trying to put the invisible player spot on any letter, number, or shape they need to complete the contents of their cards. Pushing the reset button makes the spot appear on the screen. Lighting a wrong symbol might give other players an advantage if they can use it for their own cards. The first player to gather all elements he has on his cards wins.

One of four add-on games released for the Odyssey in 1973, Interplanetary Voyage lets players pretend they are space pilots on missions throughout the solar system. It comes with game card #12.
Picking one of the mission cards, the goal is to land one's spaceship on the right planet. This can be achieved by giving the horizontal and vertical controls a short spin and hoping that the player spot will come to a halt in the correct location under the screen overlay.
Another mode of play called University of the Solar System makes use of the 72 included knowledge cards. These contain questions about the solar system which players have to answer, decoding the correct solutions on the game board.

Brain Wave is one of four add-on games released for the Odyssey in 1973. It works with game card #3 originally supplied with the system and is played both on-screen and on the included game board.
The goal is to build a "train of thought" across the game board, blocking the other player's path. The thought tiles required for this can be bought by points earned in the on-screen part of the game. There, the defending player rolls his dice to decide how many fields he may move his spot through the maze. The attacking player then tries to serve the ball with such a trajectory that it hits the defender. If the defender is in a spot where he is easier to hit, the attacker gains fewer points.

Pong-Tron differs very little from Atari's offering, however this release is significant as it stands as Sega's first arcade game to incorporate a CRT monitor and thus be classed as a "video game". Prior to Pong-Tron's release, Sega had built its successes through electro-mechanical arcade games, pinball tables, slot machines and jukebox distribution.
Pong-Tron followed later in the year by the updated Pong-Tron II (and Hockey TV, another pseudo-Pong clone). The housing was also recycled for Balloon Gun. Sega's main competitor at the time, Taito also released a similar Japanese clone in the form of Elepong, also in 1973.
Unlike many other Trek-themed games of the era, Trek73 is not derived from the well known Star Trek by Mike Mayfield. Trek73 simulates multi-ship starship combat in a smaller play area and does not include the more strategic elements of the original, like starbases and the galactic map layout.
Like most BASIC programs from the 1970s, there are dozens of minor variations on the original. Dave Korns adapted the code to support smart terminals, using the cursor control characters on the Hazeltine 2000 to produce an in-place updating display. In the mid-1980s, Dave Pare and Chris Williams translated the original BASIC version into C and Jeff Okamoto, Peter Yee, and others corrected and enhanced the source code. These versions are widely available for Unix-like and DOS operating systems.
The game simulates battles between spaceships of the Star Trek franchise. Through text commands, a player may order the ship to perform certain tasks in battle against an opposing vessel.

Lemonade Stand is a business simulation game created in 1973 by Bob Jamison of the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium (MECC). In it, the player moves through several rounds of running a lemonade stand, beginning each round by making choices dependent on their current amount of money about their stock, prices, and advertising. In each round, the results are randomized based on the player's inputs, as well as affected by random events such as thunderstorms and street closures. Each round ends with a summary of the player's current status, and the game ends after 12 rounds.

Mugwump is an early video game where the user is tasked with finding four "Mugwumps" that are randomly hidden on a 10x10 grid. It is a text-based game written in BASIC. Mugwump was written by students of Bud Valenti from Project SOLO in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and then modified by Bob Albrecht of the People's Computer Company. The user enters a pair of single-digit co-ordinates in the range from 0 to 9 which are the x,y coordinates to scan. If a mugwump is at that location then the user is alerted. Otherwise the user is told the distance from the scanned coordinates to each of the mugwumps that are yet to be found. The game ends after ten turns or when all of the mugwumps have been found

1 PLAYER
Hunt the Wumpus was originally written by Gregory Yob in BASIC Out of frustration with all the grid-based hunting games he had seen, such as Snark, Mugwump, and Hurkle, Yob decided to create a map-based game.
The original text-based version of Hunt the Wumpus uses a command line text interface. A player of the game enters commands to move through the rooms or to shoot "crooked arrows" along a tunnel into one of the adjoining rooms. There are twenty rooms, each connecting to three others, arranged like the vertices of a dodecahedron or the faces of an icosahedron (which are identical in layout). Hazards include bottomless pits, super bats (which drop the player in a random location and the Wumpus itself. The player wins the game if the Wumpus is killed. However, firing the arrow into the wrong chamber startles the Wumpus, which may cause it to move to an adjacent room. The player loses if he or she is in the same room as the Wumpus (which then eats him or her) or a bottomless pit (which he or she then falls into).

September 1973. It was designed as a form of pressure suffered by other
manufacturers who began to release unlicensed copies of the Pong arcade, with
many variations on their mechanics. Nolan Bushnell thought the best way to
compete with the imitators was to create better products, leading Atari to
produce sequences in the years following the release of the original - Pong
Doubles was the first. The sequencing features similar graphics, but include
new gameplay elements.

Empire is a 4X wargame created in 1972 by Peter Langston, taking its name from a Reed College board game of the same name. It was initially created by Langston in BASIC on an HP2000 minicomputer at Evergreen State College.
Empire is a turn-based 4X wargame, where players command armies of units which they use to explore the game world, control territory, and attack opponents. The game world consists of "sectors", which may be designated as agricultural, industrial, etc. Control of these sectors grants the player a variety of raw and manufactured materials, which they may use to construct dozens of unit types. In each round, the players submit their commands for the activities of their units to the central server, which executes all of the commands either simultaneously or in a sequence. Rounds can last anywhere from a few hours to a day. As such, a full game can take much longer than modern 4X games, depending on the size of the game world; "Blitz" games may last a few hours, while typical games last months and larger games can take up to a year to complete.

Extract from the http://www.old-computers.com
Percepts was the free Odyssey game you got for registering your Odyssey.. The mechanics are similar to “Simon Says” you must determine where to go and get there before your opponent does. Percepts comes with two decks (Purple and Green) of 15 cards each, a screen overlay and a set of instructions. There are two games described in the instructions, Patterns and Symbols. Patterns: In this game, the 15 green cards are layed out, face-up in a 3x5 grid, just like the blank rectangles on the overlay. Then a player draws a Purple card from unused Purple deck. You must then study the pattern (the 3x3 grid) on the card and find the matching green card. Then it's a race, to the corresponding position on the overlay, The first to get there, win a green card! Symbols: Symbols is basically the same game, but after studying the green cards, they must all be turned over. And this time simpler symbols are to be remembered not dot patterns.

This is the first volleyball videogame ever.
Volleyball was delivered with a brand new cartridge, which was not common for Odyssey games (they generally used the ones delivered with the system). This one enables to display half a line in the middle of screen to simulate a volleyball net. The ball disappears when it hits the net.
Otherwise, the game is pretty the same as the Tennis game.

Racing
Extract from the Chronogamer review:
"Player Spot One, the Driver, races around while the other player spot sits perched on that left icon which looks like a clock. While The Driver follows the convoluted path of the Überlay track, Player Two, The Timer, is hitting the reset button on the Driver's controller to send the Ball Spot from the right side to the left side to bounce off the Player Spot on the clock icon. This oscillating Ball Spot acts as a "timer" for Player One's race around the track. For every oscillation, Player Two subtracts a "lap" from Player One's lap count, which starts at 30. The idea is to get around the track before the lap total evaporates entirely.
Another way you to "lose laps" is for your DRIVER Player Spot to collide with the Ball Spot (Timer) while you're racing around the track. If the TIMER wishes, he/she can choose to become, in essence, the SHOOTER, instead of the TIMER, and try to hit the DRIVER with the timer spot. It wasn't easy to do, but its definitely an alternative strategy.
Well, there's also an off-screen gameboard that goes with this game. The gameboard supports four lanes (for up to four players) and contains passing, no passing and pit stop zones. When the player finishes his race on the screen, he uses the number of laps left from that race to move his little car token forward that many spaces on the board.
The Pit Stops on the board let the player draw a card from the Pit Stop deck which gives directions like "Good Cornering! gain 2 spaces." or "Tire Change! lose 4 spaces." or even-meta directives like "Lady Luck! use to cancel any pit stop card you pick."
To win the game you have to move your token to the end of the gameboard track first, by using the lap counts you earn from racing around the screen track and by maneuvering your car into the no passing zones to prevent your opponents from passing you."

The overlay is a map of the USA. There are 50 cards, each highlighting a specific state with three questions about the state. There's an answer brochure ("Affairs of States") and what can best be described as a paper version of the overlay. They refer to it as a "study map".
The questions are cute and range from little rhymes to help your memory with learning the capitals to riddles about certain official state items.
For instance, on the Kansas card:
1. Arm in arm, cheek to cheeka - Kansas' capital is _______?
Or for Alaska:
2. Why is Alaska's state flower easy to remember? (heh-heh, I like this one)

Description from: http://www.old-computers.com
Fun Zoo is a kind of reflex/maneuvering/race game that takes place in a Zoo.
The Overlay is very colorful and contains 28 different destinations within a Zoo, to which the Players may maneuver their Player Spots. These destinations are determined by a pack of cards which are drawn and read by the Zoo Keeper. They consist mostly of animals but also contain concession creatures, such as the elusive Popcorn and the mighty Hot Dog.
The Zoo Keeper draws the card and says the name of the creature out loud. The two players must then maneuver their spots though the yellow area (the "paths") without "lighting" any other animal cages on the way. The first to "light" the correct cage with their player spot, wins that card. If either player lights the wrong cage they lose a card.

strategy
Description from: http://www.old-computers.com
Invasion is a strategy game surely inspired by famous board game Risk.
The world of Invasion is a small map with 12 territories each containing a castle (see game board picture below). Surrounding the land portion of the map is an ocean perimeter. The land part of the world gets divided up and everyone gets an equal number of castles. The object of the game is to take over everyone else's castles using your armies. You can attack any castle if it is immediately adjacent to one of your castles. After capturing a castle you get to draw a loot card which gives you gold. Use the gold to buy more armies or to buy a ship which you can use to transport armies to attack castles that aren't immediately adjacent to your already conquered land.
Attacking a castle is the videogame part, using the Odyssey. There are two phases: external and internal attacks. The external attack can be a direct attack or a sneak attack.
The direct attack is the only time you directly face-off against an opponent using the Odyssey. The duel is simply this: The attacker sends the ball spot across the screen at the highest speed possible, and attempts to wiggle it, using ENGLISH, past the defender who can only use their vertical control to block it.
The sneak attack involves maneuvering your player spot, while it is invisible, from the bottom center of the screen to either north corner of the on-screen castle so that it covers the door there.
For the internal attack, you start the spot in the center of the screen. Your opponent blanks the spot (by holding down their reset button) while you shift your horizontal/verticle controls enough so that you think that spot will now materialize on top of one of the four guard towers of the castle on the Überlay. The reset button is released and the ball spot slides in from off-screen too, hopefully, symbolize a destruction of all the defenders.
This game uses carts #4, #5 and #6 for the various attacks. It comes with a game board, two overlays, a deck of loot cards and at least 300 little tokens representing your armies.
Invasion is more a board game with videogame interludes than a pure videogame. Games can last very, very long...

Another "Tennis" variation, but this time against a wall. To display a wall on the left-hand side of the screen instead of the middle (like for Tennis and Table Tennis games), a new cartridge (#8) is delivered with the game.
This is the first implementation of what will be one of the most popular pong variations in the following years. Despite its name, it's not really a "Handball" simulation, but rather a Squash or Pelota inspired game.

casino, gambling, roulette
Description from: http://www.old-computers.com
The first gambling/casino/roulette video game ever. A lot of accessories are needed to play this game: game plastic overlay, roulette layout board, plastic chips and money papers!
The Odyssey itself doesn't do much. One player must close his eyes and turn randomly the vertical and horizontal controls. Then the banker (another player), press the Reset button to launch the ball which will fall into place on the wheel.
The system seems indeed to launch the ball differently according to where the ball was placed on the screen before pressing Reset. That's all the Odyssey does here! Players have to place bets, randomly place the ball and launch it, and finally calculate the bet results...

Space travel V2
Space Travel is an early video game developed by Ken Thompson in 1969 that simulates travel in the solar system. The player flies their ship around a two-dimensional scale model of the solar system with no objectives other than to attempt to land on various planets and moons. The player can move and turn the ship, and adjust the overall speed by adjusting the scale of the simulation. The ship is affected by the single strongest gravitational pull of the astronomical bodies.

Naval Battle; War; Submarine
Description: http://www.old-computers.com
Navigate your convoy into the safe harbor as you pass through dangerous, submarine infested waters!
Once the plastic overlay is placed on the screen, the convoy commander navigates his ship (big white square) along the blue sea lanes, using his horizontal and vertical controls. If the convoy leaves the sea lane, it signifies that it has run into mines and one of the ships is lost.
The submarine captain (the other big white square) launches his torpedoes by pressing his Reset button. He directs the torpedo's path toward the convoy with his "English" control.
When the convoy reaches the end of the sea lane path and is off the screen, it signifies that it has made it into a safe harbor.
Surprisingly fun game given the technical limitations of the Odyssey.

This is the first hockey video game ever. Technically it uses the same cartridge as Tennis, Baseball, Football, etc... Plastic overlay and game rules differ though.
As usual with the Odyssey, you have to make your imagination work and do part of the job, as the system is only "providing" 2 players, a ball and a net. You have to keep your own score and decide if a goal is valid or not according to the rules described in the manual.

"Be the fastest skier down the slopes. The course is designed to encompass the beginner, intermediate and advanced skier. As you schuss in and out between the flags and course hazards you must strive for accuracy and poise as you attempt to win the race by either the time or point method."
The plastic overlay required for this game is very opaque. The light coming from the TV can only be seen through the trails dashes, pine trees, red gates, and mountains. When you play, you try to stay on the trail while "skiing" the fastest you can. When the trail is not lighted anymore, it means you went off the trail! You then receive a penalty (points or time depending on the way you chose to play). Penalties are even worse when you light a tree, a gate or a mountain. But, remember, the Odyssey doesn't count anything; you have to keep your own score and penalties...
The first skiing video game in history is especially fun if you have the pressure from a second player, otherwise...

Football for the Magnavox Odyssey is, of course, the first American Football video game ever. Two players use a combination of on-screen movement, dice, and play cards to simulate a game of football; kickoff, passing, and punting plays use Card #3 while running plays use Card #4
Football is more of a "football abstraction". It's as if the game is asking you to pretend that you are playing a football simulation. It includes an overlay, a game board, about 40 cards, a football marker, and a yardage marker and utilizes no less than three of the pack-in Odyssey carts. You use the included gameboard to keep track of where the ball is. There's a table printed on the board to help you figure out the yardage results of plays based on cards drawn and dice rolled. This game is 95% boardgame and 5% video game. I actually thought that would be part of its charm.
