In this video, Griffin from Alarm Grid demonstrates how to connect the 2GIG XCVR3-GC3 to a 2GIG Edge, to allow it to use the 2GIG IMAGE3 image sensor. The IMAGE3 communicates using the 900 MHz frequency, and the 2GIG Edge does not support this frequency from the factory.
The first step is to open the panel, and then power down the 2GIG Edge. To open the panel, be sure the top and bottom set screws have been loosened, and then pry the bottom of the panel away from the backplate, then swing it upward. When powering down, you can unplug the transformer, disconnect the barrel connector for the transformer, if an LT-Cable is in use, or unplug the barrel connector at the panel if the 2GIG GG-EDGCBL is in use. Once AC power has been removed, unplug the backup battery.
There are four (4) wires that will connect from the XCVR3-GC3 to the 2GIG Edge. The Black wire will connect to the GND terminal. The Red wire will connect to DCOUT+ (the GND terminal on either side of DCOUT+ can be used for the Black wire). The White wire will connect to the TX terminal, located on the opposite side of the 2GIG Edge Terminal Block. Finally, the Green wire will connect to the RX terminal. Once the wiring connections have been made, the 2GIG XCVR3-GC3 should be passed through the backplate of the panel and allowed to hang down behind the panel, in the wall. If the panel is desk mounted, then allow the antenna to hang as far from the panel as possible.
Plug in the panel battery, then reconnect AC power by reversing the process you used to remove AC in the first place. The panel should then begin to boot up. Once booted, you should be able to learn a 2GIG IMAGE3 into the system successfully. Up to ten (10) image sensors are supported by the 2GIG Edge.
