Master improvising over the 2-5-1 (II-V-I) chord progression, the most common in jazz, by jamming along to this gypsy jazz style backing track. Once you are comfortable with improvising over this 2-5-1 sequence you are well on your way to being confident playing along to loads of your standard jazz favourites.

The chords in this 2-5-1 are Bm7b5 - E7 - Am.

The thing to notice in the MINOR 2-5-1 is the half-diminished chord as the 2. This can be written, for example, as Bø7 but is also known as a minor seventh flat five. e.g. Bm7b5.

The chord is made up of the tonic, flattened third, flattened fifth, and flattened seventh degrees of any major scale. It occurs on the second degree of any natural minor scale.
