We recently purchased a new metal lathe for the shop. Rather than buy a stand I wanted to make a custom one that fit with the design of the shop.
I used a Euro cabinet style construction and created a mobile cabinet on wheels. It is a very heavy duty build entirely out of 3/4" plywood, since the lathe weighs about 480 lbs (217 Kg).

This is a great shop project which can work as a lathe stand or any bench top tool stand, such as a planer, jointer, etc. or simply as a mobile work bench.
