The 24th annual Axline Lecture, held at The San Diego Museum of Art on September 9, 2024, featured renowned architect Lord Norman Foster, founder and executive chairman of design studio Foster + Partners.
Norman Foster's groundbreaking designs and visionary approach have redefined the landscape of modern architecture with iconic structures such as the Great Court of The British Museum in London, England; Apple Park in Cupertino, California; and the expansion and restoration of The Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao, Spain.
Foster founded Foster + Partners in 1967, and over five decades he has established a sustainable approach to the design of the built environment. He believes that the quality of our surroundings affects the quality of our lives, and is driven by his passion for innovation and excellence. He is also president of the Norman Foster Foundation, based in Madrid, Spain. In 1999, he was honored by the Queen England with a life peerage, taking the title Lord Foster of Thames Bank.
