It’s versatile, functional, and easy to drop in a pocket and carry anywhere, but it’s as basic as they come. In this video, I show you how to add a whip cracker to your Readyman sling.
Why add a cracker? If you’re hunting, a loud report may be undesirable, but for target shooting, the audible feedback helps you tune your shots for better form, power, and accuracy. The supersonic crack is also just plain satisfying… especially when the crack is followed by the ammo smashing into your target!

I’ve been trying these sling bullets out for about a week so far. I’ll try to post a full review after I’ve used them a bit more, but here’s my first impression:
1. They’re good for short range practice (under 20m). They’re a bit light at 40g and won’t carry a lot of momentum at longer ranges. Most slingers generally prefer 100-200g ammo.
2. The “tacticool black” color is difficult to find in the grass. They’re too lightweight to make good hunting ammo anyway (for any game larger than a bird), so I would prefer a fluorescent color option. Of the 10 I bought, I’ve lost 4.
3. The whistling ammo sounds really cool, but the flight behavior of the whistlers with a hole in the middle is different from the solid ones. This makes it more difficult to hit the target when grabbing a random bullet from a bag.
4. They are very low-friction. This is good for a quick release from the sling, but they also wobble in the air because they don’t get enough spin to stabilize as they roll out of the sling pouch.
Overall they’re fun to use and were well worth the price at less than $1 per bullet. I would not consider them “serious” ammo, but as a novelty, I’d say it’s worth picking up a few for yourself!25th weekly slinging comp entryAndrew Moore (Andrew_slings)2022-04-22 | ...Slinging at wooden animal targetsAndrew Moore (Andrew_slings)2022-04-22 | Reason #857 to own a Scotch-eyed auger… little wooden animal targets!Slinging Spirals in Slow-MotionAndrew Moore (Andrew_slings)2022-02-06 | ...Byzantine Slinging Style In-depthAndrew Moore (Andrew_slings)2022-02-01 | Here’s a little breakdown of my Byzantine throw. This is my go-to slinging style. First, a disclaimer: I’m not an expert. Other people may do Byzantine differently. I’m just a guy throwing tennis balls in his backyard, and I’m probably doing a lot of things inefficiently if not completely wrong (right @bobbyoneill37?) That being said, here’s my attempt to break down what’s happening when slinging with a Byzantine sidearm style. Enjoy! If this is well received, I may try to do similar stuff with other styles. Please let me know in the comments if you want to see more of these breakdowns. - - - #primitive #sling #biomechanics #slowmotionSlinging: 30-shot round at 13mAndrew Moore (Andrew_slings)2022-01-28 | This one’s for the slinging crew on Discord. I already owned an original Smiling Sling. For tennis balls, I like the slimmer sling better than the original mostly because it’s lighter weight and you can feel the ammo better. Thanks Channing! Beautiful work as always.
Let me know in the comments if you want me to do a comparison video of the two Practical Paracord slings.

I can see why the shepherd boy David said “no” to King Saul’s armor before he faced Goliath! This also really helps you appreciate what ancient Roman, Greek, and Balearic warriors had to deal with in an actual battle. I don’t think I would’ve survived very long 😬

Special thanks to my dog Romeo for at least halfway fetching some of the tennis balls :P
This sling was made from a Doritos chip bag, the handle from a chip bag bag, a tennis ball mesh bag string, two aluminum eyelets, and some tape.
