In Hong Kong, 24 karat gold jewelry is referred to as "Chuk Kam." The word "Chuk Kam" is Cantonese for "pure gold." Chuk Kam jewelry is popular in Asia as a portable means of owning gold. Unlike bars or coins, Chuk Kam jewelry can be worn and carried anywhere. My pendant depicts Bo Dai, an Asian folk deity. Bo Dai is depicted as a jolly fat man. The Chinese believe rubbing Bo Dai's stomach would give you good luck. Bo Dai is often confused as being the Buddha by Westerners.
