This year’s Thames Lens competition, run by the Thames Festival Trust, in collaboration with the Illuminated River Foundation, introduced a brand‑new video category, proudly sponsored by Illuminated River. The 2026 competition features two prize groups: one open to the public and another exclusively for third‑year photography students at Ravensbourne University London.
I'm pleased to say my entry, LONDON BRIDGE, was chosen as the 1st prize for the the General Public category.
Whilst producing my 2:28-minute video, I created a short poem and a soundtrack to accompany the footage, helping to enhance the atmosphere and mood of the piece.
"LONDON BRIDGE
I AM A BRIDGE
OVER THAMES WATERS,
A BRIDGE OVER
TROUBLED WATER.
I CARRY YOU
HE, SHE, THEY,
THE ENDLESS PASSING OF NAMES.
I'VE WORN MANY FACES,
WOOD TO STONE,
SCARRED BY CENTURIES.
STILL, I STAND
PROUD
AND STRONG."
Now in its 21st year, Thames Lens continues to offer photographers and filmmakers a unique opportunity to interpret the vibrant, multi-faceted character of London’s iconic river.

Anyone searching the tidal River Thames foreshore will require a permit issued by the Port of London Authority.
