Starting elimination communication with a MOBILE baby? 👶🚽 Here’s what you actually need to get started with EC.
A lot of parents don’t discover elimination communication when their baby is a newborn.
Maybe your baby is already crawling, creeping, pulling up on furniture, or getting ready to walk…and you’re wondering:
“Did I miss my chance to start EC?”
NOPE!
You can start elimination communication anytime from 0–18 months.
Starting EC with a mobile baby is just a little different because, well…they’re MOBILE. 😂 They’re curious about everything, they’re moving all over the place, and their signals might not be quite as obvious.
So in this video, I’m showing you the gear I recommend to make starting elimination communication with a mobile baby as SIMPLE as possible.
We’ll talk about:
✅ What to use during observation mode
✅ Why I don’t recommend naked observation with a mobile baby
✅ How to use a diaper belt + cloth “sumo style”
✅ Training pants, cloth backups, and disposable options
✅ What to use during the day AND at night
✅ Baby leg warmers and other EC-friendly clothing
✅ Which potties work well for mobile babies
✅ How to potty your baby while you’re out and about
✅ What I keep in my diaper-free bag
✅ How to practice EC part-time if that works better for your family
And remember: your backup should be whatever helps your baby signal BEST while giving YOU the least amount of stress.
Cloth? Great.
Training pants? Great.
Still want to use disposables sometimes? That’s okay, too.
Babies are incredibly adaptable.
The goal is to start giving your baby a clear message: we’re not exclusively peeing and pooping in the diaper anymore. We’re learning to use the potty, too.
You don’t have to catch every pee.
You don’t have to do EC perfectly.
And you definitely don’t need to buy a million things to get started.
Get the basics, learn your baby’s natural timing and signals, and START.
