Who God says you are must come before what the world says about you. One of the most important truths we can ever learn is that we must know who we are and whose we are. If we could truly see ourselves the way God sees us, it would change everything. Not just how confidently we approach life, but how we pray, how we endure hardship, and how we walk through the world each day.
Scripture tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, created in God’s image, and deeply loved by Him. Who we are is not defined by what we do or fail to do, but by what Christ has already done on our behalf. Jesus paid the ultimate price for you so that you could be forgiven, fully loved, and deeply valued. In Him, we are welcomed into God’s family as children of the Most High God. Recently, Darren reminded us of the importance of putting on the helmet of salvation in Ephesians 6. The enemy is always looking for opportunities to speak lies over us. Lies about our worth. Lies about our past. Lies about who God really says we are. The helmet of salvation protects our minds by anchoring us in what is already true. Jesus has finished the work, and we belong to Him.
For years, I have placed Scripture under my children’s beds. Verses that spoke truth and God’s promises over their lives. I did this when they were little, and I still do it now that they are grown and living in their own homes. I even placed those same Scriptures under the bed of my newborn granddaughter.
Why? Because God’s Word matters.
Truth planted beneath the surface has a way of taking root. In Deuteronomy 6, God instructs His people to keep His Word close. To write it on their doorposts, to speak it in their homes, and to let it shape their everyday lives. God knew that before the world and the enemy try to define us, we must be grounded in what He has already said is true. That’s why I’m attaching Scriptures with today’s devotion. Verses that declare who you are and whose you are. I encourage you to place them where you will see them often. On a mirror, by your bed, on your desk, or on the walls of your home.
As you pray and fast today, pay attention to your thoughts. When a lie arises, pause and put on the helmet of salvation. Replace the lie with the truth of God’s Word. Let Scripture speak louder than insecurity, fear, or comparison.
Pray: God, help me see myself through Your eyes. Guard my mind with the helmet of salvation. Root Your truth deep in my heart, and remind me who I am and whose I am. Because of You,
