Today we take our first in-depth look at the US Navy's next-generation DDG(X) destroyer, expected to enter service in the 2030s, and compare it against Germany's proposed F127 air defense frigate in a head-to-head battle.
Both future surface combatants displace around 13,000 tons and feature advanced American air defense systems, including the RIM-116 RAM, ESSM, SM-2, and SM-6 missiles. However, their offensive capabilities differ significantly.
The DDG(X) is armed with the RGM-109M Tomahawk for long-range land attack and anti-ship missions, while the F127 is expected to field the 3SM Tyrfing and Naval Strike Missile (NSM), giving it a formidable anti-surface warfare capability.
