➡️VW's five-decade-old GTI badge enters the electric era this year with the 2027 ID. Polo GTi.

Built around VW's new front-wheel drive MEB platform, the performance version of the new ID. Polo gets a single 223 hp (226 PS / 166 kW) motor, can hit 62 mph (100 kmh) in 6.8 seconds. That's almost 3 seconds faster than the very first Golf GTI, though the 109 mph (175 kmh) top speed is a few mph down.

Adaptive dampers, an electronically-controlled differential, 19-inch wheels and IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights are standard. Every model gets a 52 kWh battery that's good for a claimed 264 miles (424 km) of WLTP range and charges at 105 kW for a 24-minute 10-80 percent fill time.
