Today we are showcasing the art created by Pierluigi Abbondanza for Tempered by Fire by Melissa Olthoff
Dragon Award nominee Pierluigi Abbondanza is an Italian illustrator working mainly as a book and comic cover artist. "As long as I can remember, I've always been captivated by the power of a good visual representation, independently if it was a photo, a painting or a graphic design; in fact when I was a child, I often went to the newsstand with my mom, and my attention was always caught by strong magazines and comic book cover images. I soon felt the need to start representing what was in my head with any media I had around. I started with pencils and later switched to acrylics and oils, until I discovered digital painting software in 2006, which suddenly became my favourite media to create art.”

Harper Tavros always dreamed of being a dragon rider. But after a prank went horribly wrong—or right—she ended up bonded to an utterly ridiculous and insanely brave griffin instead. Harper and Felix are assigned to the team tasked with unraveling the mystery of Savinia’s griffins. Their mission will take them deep behind enemy lines and into the dreaded Southern Smoke Mountains. After everything goes wrong, Harper and Felix will be pushed to their limits.
When every choice leads into the fire, their only option is to burn . . . and let the flames temper them into something stronger.
