The Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) is excited to announce that applications for our Teighlor McGee Mini Grant Program are now open!
We will award four grants of up to $6,250 each to support projects that create change for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This program honors Teighlor McGee’s legacy of supporting grassroots disability work and uplifting self-advocates of color. There are two types of grants:
1. Affiliates in Action Mini Grant
To apply, your group must:
* Be an approved ASAN Affiliate — groups not currently affiliated must apply here to be considered before the application deadline
* Affiliates can be based anywhere in the world
* Meet at least once a month (online or in-person)
* Be led by self-advocates
2. Self-advocates Transforming Equitable Policy (STEP) Mini Grant
To apply, you must:
* Live in the United States
* Be a person with a developmental disability (no formal diagnosis required)
* Have connections with communities of color and plan to work with people of color with intellectual and developmental disabilities
We are looking for projects that create change at a local, state, or national level. For example:
* Advocacy with policymakers
* Plain language or Easy Read resources
* Community education about policy issues
* Coalition building
* Mutual aid
