The next generation of elite woodchopping athletes takes to the stage in Budapest.
At the 2026 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Rookie World Championship, the best up-and-coming athletes from around the world compete with axes and chainsaws to crown the next rising star of the sport.
Young athletes representing their nations will battle it out across five classic TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines:
Stock Saw
Underhand Chop
Single Buck
Standing Block Chop
Springboard
In the spectacular Springboard discipline, athletes drive boards into the log and climb several meters above the ground before chopping through the top block - a true test of balance, precision and explosive power.
The competition follows a points-based format, where athletes earn points according to their times in each discipline. Faster cuts mean more points, and after all events the athlete with the highest total will be crowned Rookie World Champion.
For many competitors, this event is the first step onto the international stage and the beginning of a future career in professional TIMBERSPORTS®.
