This is a montage of video and images that captures the surprise emergence of Brood II Magicicada cicadas -- 4 years early -- in New Jersey. Normally Brood II (2) has a 17-year cycle. Relatively few emerged, and the birds and other varmints ate them quickly, but enough emerged to have a little fun with them.
