Longtime University of Hawai’i head softball coach Bob Coolen has announced he will retire at the end of the 2025 season, concluding a storied 34-year career.

Coolen, who signed what was presented as his final contract two years ago, confirmed this week that he will not seek an extension, making the upcoming season his farewell tour.

Coolen, who has amassed more than 1,100 career wins, 11 NCAA tournament appearances, and a trip to the 2010 Women’s College World Series, reflected on the decision to retire in an interview with KHON2 Sports reporter Mitch Riberal.
