In this talk at the 2025 Virtual RNDS, Dr. Greenberg discussed the ongoing Q-cell study, which is a study seeking to investigate the use of stem cells to repair damage. Stem cells have the power to differentiate into any kind of cell, making them a potentially powerful tool for recovery. It is vital for these cells to be restricted so that they can only turn into the cells that are desired and that no immune response is made against the added cells. As such, Dr. Greenberg and his team have continued to work on this trial, devising a means by which stem cells can be placed into the spine. He is currently in phase 2 or 3 of the trial, meaning they have been approved to try an increased dose of stem cells, and the study is currently open to enrollment.
Dr. Greenberg also cautioned the audience against stem cell tourism.
