Whether you're driving on the highway, off-road, or towing, the performance of these engines enhances the overall experience.” Bly further emphasized that the 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output engine, which comes standard in the 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten, showcases the company’s commitment to meeting the diverse needs of truck customers by offering a blend of power, performance, and best-in-class noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) control.
Under the hood of the 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten, this engine delivers an impressive 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque. Paired with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, it ensures smooth shifting, enhancing fuel efficiency, performance, and overall drivability. The transmission is fine-tuned to manage the powerful output of the engine, making it capable of handling a wide variety of driving situations with ease.
The 2025 Ram 1500 comes with two engine options from Stellantis’ Hurricane Twin Turbo family: the 3.0-liter Hurricane Inline-Six Standard Output and High Output variants. They are designed to offer improved fuel economy, lower emissions, and greater horsepower and torque than their naturally aspirated V-8 counterparts, as well as boosted six-cylinder engines from competitors. The Hurricane Twin Turbo engine is built on a solid foundation, featuring a deep-skirt cast-aluminum block with a structural aluminum alloy oil pan. Stellantis engineers incorporated advanced design elements to ensure strength and durability, including cross-bolted steel main bearing caps, a forged steel crankshaft, and forged steel connecting rods. Additionally, the engine block is deck-plate honed, a manufacturing process that optimizes the cylinder bore shape for improved fuel efficiency.
Several advanced technologies were employed to enhance performance and reduce emissions. For example, two low-inertia, high-flow turbochargers were designed specifically for this engine, each turbo feeding three cylinders to ensure quick throttle response. The cylinders are coated with a plasma transfer wire arc (spray bore) coating, which creates an ultra-thin, low-friction surface, reducing wear over time. The engine also uses a high-pressure (5,075 pounds per square inch) direct fuel injection system and features an engine-mounted water-to-air charge cooler with a dedicated cooling circuit.
