Ohio State Parks welcome millions of visitors each year to its 76 parks, 9,300 campsites, 10 lodges, 500 cabins, and 1,200 miles of trails. From the hills of Appalachia to the great Lake Erie, explorers of all abilities can find adventure in every direction. We are reimagining outdoor education through new nature centers that provide innovative, immersive learning experiences—led by our knowledgeable naturalists. We are expanding outdoor recreational opportunities by creating unique adventures, such as a glass walkway through giant rock formations. And, we are breaking the mold in conservation by pioneering new initiatives that promote sustainability and water quality. A landmark achievement that blends Ohio’s cultural and natural heritage is the creation of Great Council State Park. The new park, Ohio’s 76th state park, is the result of a collaboration with the three federally recognized Shawnee tribes which ensured historical accuracy and cultural authenticity. We are constantly striving towards our mission to make the outdoors available to everyone through the creation and promotion of accessible trails, adaptive kayak launches, inclusive playgrounds, and programs with at-risk youth. Ohio State Parks stand as a testament to excellence, and that all begins with our passionate and valued staff.
