Introducing 2024 #astronautscholars Sage Martin and Dilshan Rajan from the @universityofminnesota!
Sage is pursuing a major in material science and engineering. His research experience started his freshman year, working with Prof. Russel Holmes in organic optoelectronic research. He is currently conducting industry research with Intel for chip processing and test development. Dilshan is pursuing a dual major in physiology and psychology with two minors in management technology and neuroscience. He is currently conducting research in otopathology, where he studies hearing and balance pathology and the disease causes and progression that leads to clinical symptoms. His other research is in neural engineering, where he conducts experiments in animals and humans using bimodal neuromodulation (pairing sound and electrical stimulation) to induce neuroplasticity in the auditory cortex and hopefully treat tinnitus.
The University of Minnesota Astronaut Scholarships are sponsored by the Don & Lorraine Freeberg Foundation.
