2022 Distinguished Alumni Award winner Cecil Cooke (BBA ’75) is a retired executive with a distinguished career in the risk and insurance industry, as well as a passionate alumnus of UGA and the Terry College.
He worked as a managing director at Aon Risk Services for 14 years, and before that was a managing director at Marsh McLennan holding several leadership positions in sales, practice leadership, and office management.
He began his career in 1985 with Palmer & Cay as a producer, holding positions of commercial sales manager in Savannah and office head in Charlotte, N.C. In 2020, he received the Walter H. Bruce Jr. Memorial Award from the Atlanta Risk Management & Insurance community, which honors an outstanding Insurance & Risk Management professional.
He now serves as an adjunct professor in Terry’s Risk Management and Insurance Program, the same program he earned a degree in while at UGA. Cecil served on the Terry College Alumni Board from 2010-2016, serving as the board chair in 2014, and remains an Emeritus member of the Alumni Board. He is also a member of Terry’s Risk Management & Insurance Program Advisory Board and serves on the board of the Clarke County Mentor Program.
