Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016, the DB11 was launched as the successor to the iconic DB9, originally powered by a 5.2-litre V12 developed in-house by Aston Martin. The model was supplemented by a V8 version in June 2017, which was later upgraded in July 2021.
Powered by a 4.0-litre Mercedes-AMG ‘M177’ twin-turbocharged V8, it produces 528hp and sends it to the rear wheels through a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. There are three different drive modes available for both the drivetrain and chassis: normal, sport and Sport+.
The V8 variant weighs 115kg less than the V12, with a kerb weight of 1,760 kilograms. As a result, it can launch from 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 192mph.
The DB11 shares its largely aluminium platform with the 2018 Vantage and the DBS Superleggera, and features a body made out of aluminium and carbon-composite materials. The car's flat underbody, rear diffuser and front splitter manage airflow on the underside, minimising lift, while the AeroBlade captures high-speed air at the C-pillars and channels it through ducts under the bodywork, mimicking the effects of a rear wing.
