happy new year to all of you! may this year be healthy and safe and better than the last. let's make and enjoy some more awesome art together!
2021 was a slow vidding year for me bc life has been busybusybusy (i've graduated uni though, so yay?) – but as usual, the bulk of my vidding was for mep parts, mostly for my beloved @darkstarstudios1556 . since this channel has been suffering from a mild case of slow death due to "the every day" and further exceptional circumstances, i don't want to keep you in the dark about what has been happening behind the scenes.
alas, the collection of mep parts hath become bigge. over half an hour, in fact. so i will be splitting it for (hopefully) your enjoyment and uploading it over the course of a week. some videos are longer (like this one), some shorter, since i tried to group the parts together by theme, more or less. other than that, no particular order except maybe slightly backwards chronologically. if you find typos or missed numbers, please keep them as a new year's present :D

hi guys!
i realise that its been quite a while since ive last uploaded a proper video - ive been busy with the ypiv (the two volumes are nearly done!) as well as tons of mep parts as usual. when i realised that its nearly been two months since my last vid, i thought i could upload a little something i made yesterday and that im actually rather fond of. the song is so super beautiful, and i tried to go for an ~aesthetic more than a linear story. basically, the founders era is underappreciated imo and should be vidded more, with more diverse and original fancasts, with the lore of that time alongside the romantic relationships that people usually focus on, and just, i get the feels.
(i mean, druid magic and no statute of secrecy and possibly wandless magic and elemental magic and swordfights and fairytales and co-existing with magical creatures and ??? )
i shall return soon with other things! (a ypiv, hopefully.)

this has been quite long in the making, and she was sooo patient with me (i am a bad bad person) and she put this whole thing together and rendered it and her parts are FLAWLESS in my humble opinion, so yeah, what can i say that i havent capslock-screamed at her in a chat yet? im not sure. just that i am really fucking in love with this.

* plot synopsis:
Generations after the collapse of the Artan Empire and the following disappearance of near all forms of magic, the Inquisition remains one of the most powerful institutions in the lands of the clan-ruled south. Led by one family, it enforces the laws and punishments set by the ruling Council, where all Clans have seat and word.
If the Inquisitor is the spine, his niece Vlarka is his right arm. Executioners and diplomats, warlocks and warriors, she and four other Blackhands act as the Inquisition’s envoys, protected and marked by their dark masks and banners.
Soon, though, the first dragons since the fall of the Empire cross the northern mountains into Clan territory and even more awake from their decade-long slumber. The long-awaited negotiations with the warlord Tarrac are more essential to keeping the peace than ever. The alliance is to be strengthened by bond of marriage between him and the Inquisitor’s eldest daughter Raika, a seer. However, when one of her prophecies predicts grave misfortune should they be married, it is Vlarka who steps in to protect her cousin, and offers to forsake the role of a Blackhand and wed the warlord in her stead. Not only must she quickly learn how to rule a Clan, balance power-grasping generals and combative widows, and but it is her husband’s land the dragons descend upon next … and so the hunt begins.

› Ben Robson as Yanec – the Inquisitor’s eldest son; grooms his much younger sister to take his place as heir, since he knows himself to be too gentle and lenient to enforce the Council’s Law (but he enjoys mercy and feasts and afternoons with his children, so he doesn’t mind); also loves splitting skulls and staring down his mother’s enemies
› Olga Kurylenko as Raika – the Inquisitor’s eldest daughter; a seer, very loyal, but devious; has the lazy elegance of a sated cat; has definitely killed at least four people
› Uli Latukefu as Bhakti – one of Vlarka’s personal guard; a total teddybear, accompanies Vlarka, never knows when to speak and when to be quiet, so he’s just always quiet unless he’s alone with someone (and sometimes even then)
› Dianne Doan as Taaliel – a translator, brewer and Vlarka’s friend; mixes exquisite new alcoholic drinks and is therefore a rather rich woman
› Amy Wren as Morvrei – Yanecs wife and mother of his four children, a witch behind her timid nature; the Inquisitor often keeps her council because behind her silent manner, she gives good advice, even if it’s blunt and hurtful if need be; gives a mean back massage, but only in exchange for honeyed treats
› Joanne Whalley as Thuira – the Inquisitor’s first wife; also the eldest living member of her old family, so she had to formally forsake her old life with the Inquisition and her children, and take up the Council seat for her Clan; mother of Yanec and Raika; especially feared Council member
› Svetlana Khodchenkova as Nevah – the Inquisitor’s second wife for 16 years; loves her extended family greatly, the iron heart of the Inquisition; likes to weave pretty twigs, ribbons and the bones of her ancestors into the exquisite hairstyles of her homeland
› Remy Hii as Aire – a young dragon warrior riding with Tarrac, goes to painful lengths to maintain the image of a mysterious foreigner shrouded in fire and shadows, but actually imitates stupid horse faces on a daily basis and may or may not have stuck a walnut up his nose to win a bet (he did win) (and he actually is a dragon warrior, so his image isn’t all that wrong)
› Matthew McNulty as Aindrar – one of the other Blackhands; has a fondness for poisoning, drowning and tulips
› Ray Stevenson as the Inquisitor – left his name behind when he assumed the title of Inquisitor aged 23; it is whispered that his wife calls him by a pet name from her homeland, and he wishes that this be the name said by his grave
› Mads Mikkelsen as Chieftain Tarrac – a warlord claiming disputed land; a well-read man, yet highly superstitious and wary of anything magical; has a deep, disturbingly beautiful singing voice

» plot [SPOILERS] :
quite simple and i hope you can follow it in the video. a brief summary:
› past: king hrothgar has his wife amena, a witch, killed and replaces her with isolde ; his eldest child morgan hates him for it ; he has two children with isolde – ragnar and thusnelda
› as an adult, morgan returns to her father to claim her right to the throne as his eldest child but is refused – hrothgar names ragnar his successor instead, confirmed by his seer iseult.
› morgan and her husband rollo plot to kill the king; rollo murders him in an attack.
› ragnar is joined by his cousin tormund, the shieldmaiden ania, and others, and wants to be a good leader. morgan plots.
› tormund confronts rollo over rumours that he was the one behind the kings death. ragnar listens. lagertha has suspicions that its actually morgans doing. conflict!
› morgan reveals her true colours. conflict!
› ragnar gathers an army to avenge his father. they fight rollo, morgan, and elvina. iseult is captured. ragnar kills rollo in battle.
› morgan murders ragnar. elvina isnt happy. everyone mourns.
› lagertha and thusnelda want to avenge ragnars death and establish lagerthas rule as ragnars successor. they gather their forces and go to war against morgan. tormund is captured. lagertha, thusnelda, and ania win the battle.
› in a surprise attack, ania takes morgans seat, aided by iseult from the inside. lagertha is welcomed joyfully.

hi there,
this is for the test your skills contest where we had to replicate the scenes in the video pingvi provided and god this is awful. so awful. i should never try fast editing again. so please ignore this, i am going nowhere in that contest :D
edit: i did, actually go somewhere. to the second round XD (barely, but i did! wohoo!)
note:
since a lot of people used similar fandoms such as sherlock, doctor who etc ... and i dont vid those fandoms, but that fact aside ... i decided to use exclusively fantasy/historical footage, which worked great, especially for those two clips from city of bones and x-men! :D but i just didnt find anything else and also im lazy and im sorry.
and a note about the thor-flipping-the-table-clip: its originally alanna banging on the steering wheel of her car and i just translated it as people letting out their anger on innocent things around them.
