Life in the United States is and has always been tied to race, and has always been marked by racism. Religionists —both progressive and conservative—have been vocal about their relationship to race and racism. But where are humanists in this? Drawing from his book, "When Colorblindness Isn’t the Answer", Pinn argues Humanism that doesn’t commit to understanding race and addressing racism isn’t worth the name. Instead, Pinn calls on humanists to understand and act in the world in light of the implications of race. And he offers a set of “dos” and “don’ts” meant to help humanists get race right.
