We had the great pleasure of viewing the 2019 Total Solar Eclipse from a vineyard in Vicuña, Chile as part of a UCLA Alumni group trip. Eclipse totality lasted 2 min 25 sec late in the day in Vicuña.

This is the third total solar eclipse that we've viewed and each one is a bit different. This viewing had a few unique features: 1) Eclipse totality occurred just before sunset so the sun was a bit more reddish in color, 2) we were able to witness the partially eclipsed sun setting on the horizon, 3) we viewed undulating shadow bands on the ground just prior to and after totality, and 4) three solar prominences were clearly visible during totality in the lower left quadrant of the sun.
