Blank has profoundly impacted childhood obesity and improved childhood fitness in Georgia and across the nation by helping to make FitnessGram the statewide fitness assessment. The Cooper Institute is proud to honor our esteemed board member for his dedication to fitness and health at our annual Legacy Award Dinner at The Belo Mansion in Dallas, TX.
FitnessGram by The Cooper Institute is the national assessment of youth physical fitness. Over 10 million students across the country take this annual fitness test to measure their aerobic capacity, body composition, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility. This gives us an authentic picture of the overall health of our children and helps educators, administrators, lawmakers, parents make the necessary decisions to improve student health.
The Cooper Institute, founded in 1970 by Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper, is the leading authority on aerobic fitness. It is also home to the Cooper Center Longitudinal Study, the largest and longest running observational study of fitness that includes a measured cardiac stress test.
