Two key public officials who led the way in bringing Canopy 3,000 to life are Leif Dormsjo—Director of the District Department of Transportation and Tommy Wells— Director of the District Department of Energy and Environment.
“Canopy 3,000” is part of a bigger goal to grow Washington DC’s tree canopy to 40 percent by 2032. In order to reach that goal, the District is working strategically to plant trees over the next 17 years.
