The 2012 Vox Apache-1B Bass Guitar operates without batteries (x6 AA) as a basic bass. The volume and tone controls do not effect the output. When it's turned on, these controls function as does the drum machine. It has 33 drum patterns (11 x 3 variations) and a built-in tuner.
