The Sonata for Violin and Piano was completed in 1959, during my studies at the Bucharest Conservatory of Music. The slow movement on this CD contains lyrical elements found in Romanian folk tunes, accompanied here by hesitant, syncopated or (in the middle section) sweeping rhythmic/melodic patterns.
