This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). This time will not count on any real rankings. Created on Dolphin 5.0 with a real Wiichuk, slowdown, savestates, frame advance, and RAM watch.
For over 2 years, I've had an idea for delaying the lap count on this track, except I couldn't work out a way to get to the seam next to the finish line without triggering the start of the lap beforehand. The side of the track is bounded by tall invisible walls, so the only way to elude them is with HWG from the banner.
I recently decided to ask Charlie for some assistance, and he managed to get a huge ejection from the last ramp which just travelled far enough to reach the banner. He subsequently pulled off the HWG which somehow perfectly positioned him to land on the seam. So, huge props to him for donating his talent to make this glitch work.
The rest of the method was relatively straightforward since I knew it was possible. In the process though, I was reminded about how tedious that finish line pole wallclip is to get.
The flap isn't fully optimised. I have exams soon, so I just wanted to do something quick to showcase the strat. I think I lost around 5 frames by going wide after the banner bypass landing, and another 2 frames at the first corner wrap-around after the zipper glitch landing. Considering this, and that the previous flap BKT was 15.606, we can deduce that the new strat saves around 1.4 seconds!

*Note that the above run will now be placed into the 'No Glitch' category.
After over 3 years since the Koopa Cape ultra was discovered, we finally have an optimised 3lap TAS! A very tedious category to perfect, hence why it took over 1 year to get this done (thank you Malleo for being the driving force).
The turnaround is by far the most finicky part to TAS. Tough QM manipulation is required to get a hop out of the ground which ejects you high, and on top of this, the hop has to be done in a certain spot to get the good wall bounce. Also note that the HWG entry we get on lap 1 - where we aren't stopped to a halt completely by the wall - doesn't seem to be possible on lap 2/3.
As you may have noticed, lap 2 has the exact same inputs as lap 3 (besides the last wheelie of the race). This is because the respawn sets our position to an exact spot every time, so QM isn't an issue when using the same inputs. The copying itself was done with textfiles, and made our job significantly easier as we essentially only had to TAS 2 laps.
U/F (units per frame) is functionally the exact same as the standard KM/H, but it's a more accurate measurement term, since what's commonly called KM/H is actually nowhere near the true value in kilometres per hour. Thank you to Syara for making this icon!

Category: Unrestricted TAS BKT Cut: 0.240 Previous BKT by Jellopuff, Kierio, and Ejay: 16.502 (youtube.com/watch?v=U2wBi2RtmCc)
The timesave here is pretty evenly split between Justin's new bomb bounce strategy, and the post-respawn section. I discovered that, because the last KCP is slightly slanted, it was faster by around 0.120 to reverse right (away from the puddle). This has also now been implemented in RTA runs, which is cool.
You can see an encode of this TAS which has checkpoint display and lap/race completion display here: youtube.com/watch?v=NGvHgW2Ved8
Superhopping combined with the 3lap-viable ultra is faster by almost a second, but this TAS was created before both of those developments were found. So sadly, this will be Spear's last appearance in the rSGB glitch saga.

My long-awaited return to the fiery depths of Grumble Volcano. Possibly one of the most frustrating categories to TAS in MKW, so I'm happy with how the run turned out.
You might notice that the lap 2 in this run is slower than the former BKT's lap 2, however, this is simply because I trigger lap 3 a bit later (I'm still ahead position-wise throughout the whole race). Most of the timesave comes from a better 2nd shroom.
On numerous occasions, I was able to get a much tighter last turn than the one in this run, but they all resulted in a NLC: (youtube.com/watch?v=fuRkqSgL7Ys).
The RFH drift in that video is incredibly tedious to get, so this was the best I could do after trying on and off for 3 months. Though to compensate, I'm around 10km/h faster in the air than the previous BKT when I do the hop right after using the 3rd shroom.

This TAS took over 200 hours to make over the course of 10 months. It is my first proper solo 3lap TAS and, although extremely disappointed with lap 1, I'm satisfied overall with the end product - especially lap 3.
I highly suggest reading it, it is filled with details about all sections of the TAS, and is basically a replacement for the traditional long description which readers might find hard to parse readily.

Well this basically confirms a 4.7 second cut for Bowser's Castle Glitch.
I don't think anybody expected this to be feasible. A few days back, Ancient found out that it was possible to clear the high wall with only one shroom using the Bullet Bike. After some testing I was able to successfully pull off the shortcut with the Mach Bike! The sideways momentum is pretty clean and I'm glad how it turned out. Getting a high-ish trick off the last geyser with side trick abuse is faster than getting a low trick and taking the last line super tight.
The sheer timesave from this is insane. The lap 1 here is a 38.686 using only one shroom. It's 100% possible to cut at least 0.3 more from the lap 1 driving, giving potential 3lap splits of: 38.35 38.15 38.15 = 1:54.650 (Current BKT by Zak is a 1:59.483, therefore a potential 4.833+ BKT cut).

Thank you for watching! - Ejay[MKWii TAS] GCN Peach Beach Flap (Glitch) - 15.137 by Ejay, Luke, and RockyEjay B2020-07-25 | Watch in 4K Ultra HD, 60fps!
This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). This time will not count on any real rankings. Done on Dolphin 5.0 with slowdown, savestates, frame advance, TAS input, TAS code, and RAM watch (info display).
The goal of this TAS was to complete a single lap as fast as possible.
When TASing the beginning I accidentally found that big momentum bounce upon landing from the glitch, which saves a fair chunk of time. Luke helped me out with optimising the line and miniturbo after the 2nd shroom, which got the time down to a 15.179. In addition to this, after tweaking the last shroom and triple hops many times, I was able to land from the last shroom frame-perfectly before the boost ran out, eliminating the need to charge a miniturbo around the 2nd last corner - thus preserving my speed at 98km/h. After more optimisation we were able to achieve a 15.153. I then asked Rocky for assistance on the last turn, and with his expertise the final time was pushed down to a 15.137.
This can probably be improved by half a frame or so due to one of the cataquacks not being in a perfectly ideal location during the 2nd shroom. It may also be feasible to start a barrel roll on the track and perform the glitch shroomless (this is unlikely though).
Shoutouts to Malleo who tried working on this for a bit on stream, but was unable to find any improvements.

Well damn... I was not expecting this to be possible.
This all began when Arvo had a close attempt at making the glitch using Jellopuff's recently found strat (see here: youtube.com/watch?v=3gyK7jleI6U). Arvo then requested to me that I TAS code his attempt to see how close he was to making it. While doing so, I got this massive backwards hop, and flew across the entire chasm I just crossed - landing back on the track (see here: youtube.com/watch?v=KsCsr69Bp-g).
I decided to try this on the left side to see if it would count the lap, and it did!! The entire glitch is now possible with one shroom. The backwards hop is frame perfect - but many frame perfect things have been executed in the game before, thus meaning this glitch could now be pulled off in real time very soon. Even if you get the backwards hop and don't make it back onto the track, you can still get a respawn which will place you behind the last ramp and the lap will still count. The strat in the 2nd half of the video has a slim chance of being made, but I thought I'd include it anyway because of how cool it looked.
The reason why I drive backwards really far in the first strat is to hit the last Key Checkpoint to get a lap count (similar to the glitch on Wario's Gold Mine).
Also keep in mind that the start of the TAS is much more unoptimised than the start of Jello's video, so essentially a 17 second lap is possible with this glitch.

The goal of this TAS was to complete a single lap as fast as possible.
The majority of the timesave here comes from clipping the earlier tree, along with not hitting the very edge of the cave wall to align for the last turn. Instead, we get a precise stick to the road which lets us only slow down to 80km/h instead of around 18km/h.
I also managed to begin a miniturbo charge from when I clip through the ceiling of the cave, which Blaze doesn't get in Lap 1 of his 3lap TAS. Maybe this could be implemented in the 3lap TAS, saving some time?
I'm happy that I was able to get the glitch at the end to work with the sign shroomless, I don't think anyone has clipped through that wall without a shroom before. If it's possible to land back and stay on the seam somehow, then that could actually have heaps of flap potential.

This is a Tool-Assisted Speedrun (TAS) created to show the theoretical limits of this course, and isn't designed to compete with real-time runs. Done on various versions of Dolphin 5.0 with slowdown, savestates, frame advance, TAS input, TAS code, RAM watch (info display), DolphinMemoryEngine, LUA scripts, text files, input reader/writer, and TASToolKit.
The goal of this TAS was to complete a single lap as fast as possible (fast lap is abbreviated in the title to 'Flap').
The old glitch flap category is now No Ultra Shortcut because the new glitch category is now an actual ultra shortcut, so this run cannot be compared with it.
There is a FAQ in the pinned comment in the comment section which may answer some questions you have about the video.
You are watching a run that has been in WIP for over 280 days, and has taken over 500 combined hours of work between 16 different people. This is Mario Kart Wii's 18th ultra shortcut, the third in 2020.
It was amazing to finally complete this project, and I'm proud that everyone persisted and worked on it together to achieve the end goal. This ultra shortcut is very unique, the least efficient one in the game, only saving around 0.1 - yet it still classifies as one due to it skipping a key checkpoint. The first KCP skip amazes me even as I'm uploading the video because we were able to go so far to the left, considering that we were clipping blocks that were parallel to the track. The ending shortcut is super smooth, and ended up looking really cool, and saving more time than I think any of us expected.
There are only a few places where this TAS can potentially be improved: - The first shortcut (more testing needs to be done). It's finicky to get, but ~0.020 could possibly be cut from it. - The shroomless offroad cut (can go down another ~0.005 with a lower bounce over the hole, which is QM). - The final turn, where the thwomp is partially in the way. By beginning the flap at the right time, it will not longer block us, saving around a frame.
It is HIGHLY recommended that you read the above document, we spent a few weeks writing it as a highly detailed extension to the description. It includes an explanation on the history of the ultra shortcut itself, a timeline of how the run was made, the authors' comments, key quotes from the early stages of the run, key insights to the tricks done in the final run, and much more.

Thank you for watching![MKWii TAS] DS Delfino Square Flap (Glitch) - 16.552Ejay B2020-04-01 | Watch in 4K Ultra HD! (EDIT: Happy April Fools'!)
What, were you expecting an April Fools' joke or something?
It was another ordinary day of glitch-hunting in the TAS server back in December, and I asked if anyone could find anything interesting whatsoever in the KCL models of a track.
BillyNoodles then PMd me with a screenshot showing an unusually placed wall that he found - residing near the finish line. He mentioned how it contained properties very similar to that of the wall that you clip through when doing the glitch on Maple Treeway, in that when you hit it at a certain position with a certain angle, it gives you some height.
I immediately became intrigued, and got to work testing with the assistance of a moonjump hack. The wall did indeed possess the properties that Billy predicted. An ultra shortcut on DS Delfino Square had been hypothesised multiple times before, but nobody could seem to crack the solution. I began attempting to get on the outside of the fence without any hacks, and managed to do so by using a wallclip which barely clears the high invisible wall. From there, I went forward and turned around whilst staying on the seam without falling off.
I took inspiration from the Rainbow Road ultra, and used multiple inputs to perform a bounce and a sharp left turn. Luckily the crease in the road (where the slope meets the flat part) allowed me to get a great bounce without needing a nosedive. I was avoiding passing through the finish line backwards by a mile, so the last thing to do was to hit the last KCP. I was actually stuck for a bit, because I was struggling to locate the sketchy wall – which was a necessity if I wanted to reach the last KCP.
After trying numerous different approaches for the third shroom and the bounce, I finally clipped it... and there it was. I was crossing every finger and toe that I would get respawned right after the bridge – and I did. Never did I think that I would be the one to be the first to pull off a new ultra shortcut.
I was tempted to release it straightaway, but part of me knew that I had to divulge the ultra on April Fools' Day. Oh, how it pained me to hoard it for 4 and a half months. When N64 Mario Raceway and Dry Dry Ruins got discovered in early January, I was allured to showcase it and make it 3 ultra shortcuts discovered in a week. But again, I reminded myself that patience is a virtue, and that I must stick to my plan and wait for the 1st of April until I show everyone.
It's worth noting that this TAS can be improved by around a second, with 95% of the possible time-save coming from re-doing the first half of the flap.
The speedometer labelled as "km/h" on the bottom left is normal vehicle speed (most commonly used speedometer), and the speedometer labelled as "SPEED" in the bottom right is a much more accurate speed reading (The XZ speed) created by using the equation: ((Xpos current frame - Xpos previous frame)^2) + ((Zpos Current frame - Zpos Previous frame)^2)^0.5
The P-Wing displays the amount of airtime, the blue spark displays MT charge (max is 270), and the mushroom displays shroom boost.
Huge thank you to Billy yet again for kicking off this whole project.

It's finally over: after 2 months of grinding this track and failing the 1:35 over 70 times on the second half of lap 3, my goal has been reached! This run wasn't what I hoped it would look like, but it is what it is. Of course the one run where I PB is the run with no chains and horrible driving... The last turn is extremely infuriating, and I was so so close to hitting offroad at the shortcut on the second mound. I somehow clutched out a fast wheelie upon landing and managed to narrowly miss the fire snake.
I hate this track and won't be improving here again. I also got Australian Record for glitch with a 2/3, which may be uploaded some time in the future. Lap 3 is amazing for me (especially considering there was no wheelie cut), and is the fastest split I've ever driven.

This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). This time will not count on any real rankings. Done on Dolphin 5.0 with RAM Watch (Info Display), slowdown, TAS code, frame advance and savestates.
Here it is: the most collaborative flap in Mario Kart Wii TAS! Charlie began this TAS by being the first person to traverse around the perilous 'Charlie corner' at 0:14 (watch in 0.25x speed) with Spear. I then suggested the idea of using a shroom to start the flap as opposed to reversing into it. This saved over 3 seconds alone. You can see who worked on what part of the run by looking at the name display on the left. Approximately over 100 hours of work was put into this TAS.
It isn't possible to turn around any closer to the finish line because of the 95% rule. Jellopuff managed to achieve a really good turn-around where Funky Kong enters cp1 after stopping (entering the first checkpoint bypasses the 95% rule), and exits cp1 before using the 3rd shroom. From there we drift and hop to manoeuvre around the finish line (which extends to around halfway across the black void) and curl around it to trigger cp24 and get the respawn.
While we were busy optimising the first part of the run, we also got to work optimising the part after the respawn. Once we were done, Kierio then spliced the 2 halves of the run together for us. After further tweaks to the final turn, we were at 16.170. This would've been the final time, however Citrinitas was determined to stop at nothing to achieve the grand 16.169.
After grinding for days, he got an estimated 0.0005 improvement to the respawn drop boost, along with another 0.0005 improvement to the pipe trick, adding up to a total cut of 0.001. Finally - the 16.169 was done, and Citrinitas become the 69th TASer to get a BKT.

After quite a while of grinding I finally achieved dual Oceanic records on Maple Treeway! I was kind of hoping for more consistent splits e.g. 46.3, 46.2, 46.3, but oh well. Laps 1 and 3 were pretty average but Lap 2 is really good for me (a WW tops caliber lap) and is my very first sub 46 lap!
I had to improvise the shortcut entry at the start of lap 3 due to my angle being a tad off. I recovered well and minimised the amount of time lost. The wheelie lock after the wiggler section lap 3 really stuffed me up, but luckily I was able to regain control (somewhat) and not fall off. This unfortunately caused me to miss the entire second boost panel on the log. You can even see me press the B button on the Input Display right before the first boost panel lol.
Overall, very happy to get this after numerous fails with Jak strats, wiggler glitches, and the path after the net.

Merry Christmas to all of the MKWii TAS community - and surprise!
Yes, the shroomless glitch on DS Desert Hills has finally been accomplished, sort of. While I am aware that the very beginning is suboptimal, this being the only EVER successful shroomless glitch, I figured it'd be awesome to showcase a lap 1 with the new strat as a Christmas present to you all!
Of course, none of this would have been possible without David performing the shroomless glitch in one of his RTA WR attempts on this track earlier in the month (you can find the original video of the glitch being performed here: gyazo.com/209dc9c4132a9f3a3a355a9e8875c5f8). By downloading the ghost from Chadsoft and importing it into the game using WiiScrubber, I (Ejay) was able to use David's ghost as a starting point.
I started off the TAS by discovering that the rDH banisters have the exact same collision detection as the rBC3 banisters, meaning a delay clip / floor clip is possible. You get a clip off the edge of the surface, then touch the banister and get increased amounts of airtime (all of this is done without using a mushroom - which is what makes the shroomless glitch such a timesave). The slight wheelie turn on the banister is to avoid a weirdly placed out-of-bounds patch. Kierio helped optimise the turns after the glitch landing, and TASPlasma assisted by kindly helping us with the single trick alignment. I then found a new way to do the double trick - which was faster than the single trick that we were originally going to use. I did the rest of the lap and Kierio also helped with getting a stick on the last turn. The turn before the wheelie cut + the wheelie cut itself can be improved by around 0.010, so a 28.5xx is possible with these strats.
Although Spear is the best vehicle choice for this category now, we just wanted a showcase video ready for Christmas, and the only way we could have done that is by using the only existing ghost using shroomless glitch - which uses flame runner and no start slide. With spear and an optimal start, this can probably go down to a 28.3 or lower.
This TAS really couldn't have been showcased like this without the 3 other people that made it a reality: - David (youtube.com/channel/UCfCUd1XAu3MadSqAgHVQsfw) - who is the first and only person to perform the glitch - Kierio (youtube.com/channel/UC2vKYn2AMivCi27nNZ6tB2Q) - who helped me get through this run and helped optimise it. Thanks for helping me write the description too! - Derek (youtube.com/user/TasPlasma) - who performed the single trick alignment and basically saved the run

Run analysis:
Lap 1 was going well and I got a great low-trick on the second ramp, but the cave exit was bad, as I didn't get a slipdrift + wheelie. I also hit some offroad upon landing from the shortcut.
Aside from hitting a tiny bit of offroad before the second ramp, Lap 2 was really good.
Lap 3 was great and is my PBS lap 3. It didn't have any major flaws, aside from the last turn - where I went wide and didn't cut off enough offroad - which cost around 0.150.

Another Kart TAS! Upon finding out that the one shroom glitch was possible using a kart, I wanted to see how close I could get to the current TAS BKT - which uses a bike. Getting an exit out of the one shroom glitch at full speed was quite finicky and tedious to get. The lap 3 in this run is actually faster than the lap 3 in Malleo's 1:24.778 (Former TAS BKT), which is cool. This took a long time to make, so I hope you enjoy!
Room for improvement: - Turn before the net + the net section lap 1 (lost around 0.15 seconds). - Shroomless bump lap 2 (I was unable to get a better hop, despite my best attempts. Lost 0.1 seconds here). - First frame miniturbo before the bump lap 3 (lost around 0.02 due to releasing it on the second frame by mistake).
Thanks to Deit for showing me that the glitch was possible with kart this way.

Super happy with this run. Might push for 1:53 sometime in the future and perhaps Australian record. The last 3 turns on lap 3 are such a pain due to the fire snake being in the way. I also got 8th Australian on rock-hop but the run wasn't the best so I won't upload it.

I wanted to make another Baby Booster TAS, this time on Grumble Volcano, but I ended up beating the Kart TAS BKT so yeah. I'm not entirely sure if the Baby Booster is faster than the Cheep Charger here, but it looks like it after comparing the run to the previous TAS BKTs. I spent a lot of time optimising this. I re-did Lap 1 and 2 over five times each, and re-did lap 3 over ten times. Despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to make TAS Entry using the Baby Booster, so I opted to TAS the fast entry strategy instead.
Lap 3 is awesome. A lot of QM was required to get all the necessary wall bonks and turns. When TASing the last turn, I was just about to give up all hope trying to sub 17 until I managed to get an extremely lucky stick to the rock, allowing me to cut off more time. The hop right before the finish line saves 0.001. I wanted to get a 3.899 lap 3 in the end, but oh well.
I see that this video is getting a substantial amount of attention. For anyone wondering, This run was made on Dolphin Emulator and is a TAS (Tool-Assisted Speedrun), therefore it won't count on any real rankings. The definition for a TAS is as follows:
"A tool-assisted speedrun or tool-assisted superplay (TAS) is a set sequence of controller inputs used to perform a task in a video game. The input sequence is usually created by emulating the game and using tools such as slow motion, frame-by-frame advance, memory watch, and save states to create an extremely precise series of inputs. The idea is not to make gameplay easier for players, but rather to produce a demonstration of gameplay that would be practically impossible for a human player. Tool-assisted speedruns often feature gameplay that would otherwise be impossible or prohibitively difficult to perform in real time. Producers of tool-assisted speedruns do not compete with "unassisted" speedrunners of video games; on the contrary, collaborative efforts between the two groups often take place."

I tried my hardest to optimise this run, however I think lap 1 can be cut down to 10.3. Maybe a sub 30 could happen if new strats are found. I spent around 15 hours making this run in total.
Weird 300cc physics is the reason why I don't wheelie during or after a boost. It can be quite hard to optimise a 300cc TAS, as racing a ghost doesn't really work, and neither does TAS Code.
Also shoutouts to JMM - who had the closest time prediction (he guessed 27, only 3.439 off).
Wow. The very first sub 17 on Grumble Volcano glitch! Lap 1 is my PBS and my first sub 7 lap 1. Run was going beautifully up until lap 3. I got a bounce upon landing from that uphill part of lap 3, and I came incredibly close to falling off before the last turn. If I hopped and went for Ross strat, I would have fallen off - so luckily I made the right decision to do the regular exit. Without that pesky bounce + Ross strat, this run would have been a high 16.5.
This WR time cut (-0.248) is the 2nd biggest cut on Grumble Volcano glitch since 2008 (second to Phyz's -0.254 WR cut when he beat Shane). This could be the last sub on GV unless someone manages to get a god-like run.
Thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged me to get the sub 17 :D

I can't believe I got this run! After being on holiday for a week I came back and tried to beat my 17.582 using the TAS Entry strategy. After Ross got WR, I actually improved my time without TAS Entry to a 17.502 (-0.080 cut) and after ONLY 5 days of grinding I finally got world record with a time of 17.100. Laps 2 and 3 were pretty good considering how nervous I was. Lap 1 is my personal best split, which is cool. I can see myself hitting a 6.5 lap 1, therefore a sub 17 WR will inevitably happen in the near future.
Some cool statistics:
- I made it over the rock using TAS Entry 606 times (yes, I kept count). - Runs where I got too much air and flew over the rock directly into the lava despite a good alignment - 522 - Runs where I actually stuck to the rock without crashing or getting too much air - 84 - Runs where I didn't immediately crash into the wall on the left or fall into the lava upon attempting the first turn - About 10 - Of those 10, I achieved 3 sub 18s (17.781, 17.63 and 17.1)

PLEASE NOTE: I plan to make intros after beating a WR by Phyz, but since this is only a personal improvement I decided to just upload the run by itself. Also I'm running out of ideas for background music, therefore sorry if it isn't as good as the ones in the previous WR videos.
Wow! I honestly did not expect to improve this quickly. Everything is pretty solid in this run except the drift ending, where I went a tad wide. A 17.4 and maybe even a high 17.3 seems quite doable now.
Decent run, I can improve laps 1 and 2 by around 0.1 each. Lap 3 was very nice but it can still be improved by a bit.
This run's lap 1 (7.937) is identical to the lap 1 in Phyz's 17.709 former WR (7.937), and lap 2 (5.256) in this run is almost exactly the same as the lap 2 (5.257) in Phyz's 17.709 :0

Wayyyy better clip. I wanted to make an optimised automatic transmission TAS to compare with an optimised manual transmission TAS, which Jellopuff has now made. So far, the only theoretical improvement comes from possibly using the Magikruiser, as its acceleration and high off-road stat could potentially be useful after the respawn. However so far nobody has managed to make the glitch with Magi yet.

About the run:
I didn't really have any nerves during this run at all. I was so far behind my ghost up until the last turn lap 3 and I honestly thought that nothing would come out of this run. It just proves how OP Ross strat is.
- Lap 1 (8.131) was good. I hopped onto the rock a frame or two too early and the remaining shroom boost sent me a little too far, but I managed to not fall off. Got propelled forward again on the bump.
- Lap 2 (5.147) was great considering that I didn't get propelled forward on this lap.
- Lap 3 (4.437) was super awesome! Despite not getting propelled forward at the time I still managed to get a very fast lap. As you can see, I went for a drift ending and nailed it.
Lap 3 is the fastest ever lap in a world record out of ALL the tracks in the history of the game, which is pretty cool.

I claimed my first worldwide tops with a 19.882 in February, and slowly worked my way up the top 10. I beat Axe with a 19.423 and got my 2nd Australian record. I achieved 3rd WW in the same month with a 19.223, but I slowly fell to 9th place after many other players began to learn faster strats and get sub 19s.
I persisted and learned the spindrift transition strat, which gave me an 18.640. I further decreased my time to 18.338, which stood for a month.
After my exams finished and holidays began, I got back to the grind and set 3 PBs within a 4 day period. I was now in 2nd place with an 18.080 - closer to the world record than ever before - however a 17.8 just seemed way too optimistic.
A day after my 18.080 I finally claimed my first WR, beating Phyz by .017. I also became the first Australian to set a world record since July 2010.
About the run:
Lap 1 (7.734) was insane and had no mistakes. It is my second fastest lap 1 ever. I got propelled forward at the little bump after triggering the first KCP, which saved some time.
I got propelled again on lap 2 (5.172) which saved even more time and I did the spindrift transition very well.
On lap 3 (4.917) I released my drift a tad early than usual. After stuffing up so many times in that same spot I wanted to be sure that I wasn't going to fall off. I decided that I was on too tight of an angle in order to do the drift exit, so I attempted normal exit instead. Unfortunately I got a tiny bump and airtime landing on the final turn, which cost a 17.7. In fact, if I finished the lap any more to the left I might not have gotten WR, due to the finish line being on an angle on the rock. The end time was 17.823 :D
I'd like to thank Shane, Nate, Enzo, João, Shun and ZeldaCubed for always encouraging me to improve my times, as well as many other people. Thank you to Ross for supporting me, and also thank you to Niyake who - by grinding Grumble Volcano literally every day - motivated me to keep improving. Also a shout-out to those who always cheer me on in the comment section of my videos.
But most of all, thanks to Riz - who congratulated me on every single one of my PBs since I got 22.444, and endlessly filled me with determination to get the world record. :)

Very surprised that I got this. This is my first PR set with a double spindrift. If I got Ejay strat as well, I would've gotten 3rd WW. This also beats KingAlex's former 18.641 WR from late 2018 by a millisecond, which is pretty cool. Only complaints were that I could have held the drifts for a bit longer and also maybe attempt Ross strat.

This run had a really fast Ejay entry strat. I'm so surprised that I hit the last KCP, that really should not have counted the lap. I would've attempted the drift ending but I decided I was too close to the rock to do it. Doing that would've gotten me 3rd WW.
