Every manipulum divided in 2 centuriae. Each centuria made by 60 for hastati and principes, 30 men for triarii. There are even 10 turmae of 30 horsemen each turma in the sides (5 turmae each side). I did not make them combat to show tactics better. project history: EPIC!!! real macedonian army of Alexander 1 on 1 scale the Creative Assembly machinimas 2015-08-17 | ladies and gentlemen, here it is: after some studies of sources and some total war cheat/tweaks, I have managed to recreate exactely the SAME army (same numbers, 44000 men, and same composition) which Alexander the great used to conquer the ancient world: this is for example the army he used in battles of Issus or Gaugamela. Here it is, one on one scale, no lag (almost, considering I had 360 units!!! on battlefield I think it is a good result), ultra graphic settings, for your pleasure.I could not make a real battle against a same size army or it would have crashed.If I will reach 1000 subscribers my next video will be about...that will be tough...the persian army of Darius in Gaugamela...about 250000 men (I will control numbers later). I have realized this with a very very powerful pc used for high level video editing, a pc used to make special effects even on holliwood movies (borrowed from my gentle dad): do not try this at home or I do not garantee your pc will survive the stress. I have found a mod in steam workshop with etruscan army (which basically was early roman army) so i have a try. I have even used a mod to fix the oplon shieldsmaking them bigger and hold more or less correctely.Numbers are very close to reality, since i have about 6000 men in total (30 units of 160 men and 10 of 120) with 5000 forming the hoplite line and 1000 light infantry, where early roman legion was made by 6000 men + 2500 lightly armored.So here we go, and don't forget to thumb up and subscribe if interested.

battle of Allia 388 bC (rome 2 total war) cinematic battle (8000 romans vs 12000 gauls) the Creative Assembly machinimas 2015-02-19 | second version of same battle of my other video. I studied the background and primary sources before remaking this. Here I used hastati and principes with spears cause I have found that it was more historical. I tried to remake the ancient pre manipular roman army based on the sources i have found, especially Livii's description of the battle (he speaks of the first row retreating and clashing against second row, so I have thought that the different classes of servian reform could have been on different rows rather than on a single line). Leves and Accensi (fuorth and fith classes) are the skirmishers in front, then there are the second class (future Hastati, but with spears), then first class divided into 2 rows (what will be Principes -the picked men of the first class- and Triarii -wealthy veterans forming the old phalanx) finally the third class (Rorarii, after camillean reform). As you see, when the first infantry line breaks it brings all back lines to collapse in their turn. This was what lead to the biggest defeat or Rome and then the sack of Rome, which will remain untouched until 410 with manipular reorganization. Real numbers are 24000 romans (maybe less) against 12000 gauls, so it is not so far from reality; especially number of gauls is more or less the same. Mod used here: divide et impera

manipular roman army in battle with tactics (rome 2 total war software) the Creative Assembly machinimas 2015-01-24 | If you have liked //SUBSCRIBE//ULTRA GRAPHICS, NO LAGS, 30000 MEN ON BATTLEFIELDthis represents IN A REALISTIC WAY a full roman mid republican (3rd/2nd century bc); 4 legions (2 romans, 2 allieds), each legion is made by 1200 velites, 1200 hastati, 1200 principes and 600 triarii (together with Rorarii and Accensi in the back, the poorest of the Adsidui, those who could join army). Then there are 10 Turmae of 30 cavalrymen for each legion, so 1200 Equites in total, +triple number of allied cavalry .As you see i show some manipular tactics too: Velites retreat in the gaps of the hastati, hastati close the gaps and form one single line. Each maniple, for hastati and principes, was made by 120 men, 2 centuriae of 60, and for Triarii was made by half numbers, as I showed (hastati and principes are in maniples made by 2 centuriae each 10 men large for 6 men deep).

polybian manipular legion vs cohortal legion: who wins? the Creative Assembly machinimas 2014-11-22 | test made playing online. I am playing use a manipular polybian legion, with real numbers, since there are 5 manipula for both hastati and principes 320 men each (2 x160 for centuria), and 5 manipula of 160 men for triarii. This represents an about 5k men full numbers' manipular legion (who should have 10 manipula of 160 men -2 x80- each, though, but result is the same).As you notice, cohortal legion is stronger, since it has well armored units, while polybian legion has hastati who are weaker. Then auxiliary cavalry is stronger than equites. But I was rather surprised to see how effective is polybian legion, having lost cavalry, to prevent being surrounded by cavalry. Triarii work very well to make a back wall of spears against cavalry, or even to prevent flanking from infantry. They are the last units standing...
rome 2 remaking history: historical battle of Adrianople 378 A.D. the Creative Assembly machinimas 2014-11-20 | trying to remake battle of Adrianople with rome 2 and Constantine mod. Here i have used half velites (2400 instead than 4800) to decrease stress for cpu (still very much and you see in lagging moving soldiers) so result is a bit inferior (about 15500). Anyway, epic. Imagine that at the battle of Cannae there were 4 roman armies like this, but each was full numbers (5000 men each legion instead than 4200), so 20000 soldiers each army instead than 15500 here shown....imagine how massive final result could be.Graphics are set on extreme so maybe if you make it lower it wont lag so much.
