An alternate title I had for this was 'Super Mario 2024' simply because I had taken a bit of inspiration from Super Mario 2007, or 'Toy Time Galaxy'. It's also what led to the inclusion of a part from the 'Super Mario Bros.' theme!The main thought in the back of my head when writing this remix was that I wanted it to really feel like music from a special level. I was pretty bummed out to hear there was no proper theme for the final badge challenge, so this could be a "replacement" for the usual Badge Challenge music that is used. Something that makes the level truly feel more like the final level of a special world. I originally had zero idea what direction I wanted to take for this remix, especially not this jpop electronic direction which, this is my first time doing. It's also my first time working on song writing and structure, figuring out how to elevate the song further and emphasize what the vocals are doing. I started by writing a new chord progression & bassline for the chorus that was very catchy to me and a new melody based on the original to go with it. I started this remix from scratch on sunday night and finished it on thursday night. I'm definitely feeling a lot more comfortable choosing what sounds to use when writing eShop themes. This theme takes a lot of influence from January 2015's theme, but has it's own identity. I wanted to write something that invoked the same feelings those themes would give me back when I would browse the 3DS eShop years back. I'm also trying to get a better appreciation for Japanese Electronica, so I can take more proper influence from the style of music!

Yoshi's New Island is one of the most under appreciated soundtracks, and unfortunately due to a tiny few themes with funky sounding kazoos, which personally I find funny and also a bit charming. Looking past those themes, you find some of the best themes in Nintendo's library I'd say! A personal favorite of mine is Bouncing Beanstalk Walk, and second favorite Ukiki Jammin', and of course you have the Special Course theme, which took me by surprise upon first hearing it.

Art of Balance is one of the games I enjoyed most growing up, the entire atmosphere of the game, the visuals paired with the music make for such a uniquely relaxing experience. It also most likely contributed to my love for Jazz, and Frutiger Aero, the whole organic/futuristic aesthetic of the 2000's.This theme I wrote for "World I". I took heavy inspiration from World A and also included a piece of the theme as a reference. I tried my best to match the standard of Martin Schioeler's work!

As for who originally composed the theme, the only thing coming to my mind is potentially Kazumi Totaka. Otherwise, I'm not really sure.

Seeing every game for each console and when they were released, being able to look at the summaries of all the games. I could scroll for hours, if only there was some music to accompany the experience...I've been trying to figure out how to go about what the music would sound like for the Nintendo Switch Online app, I knew It needed to be mellow, but not too slow, uplifting but not too overwhelming. Something like the eShop downloading music, Internet Settings, Nintendo Video & Theme Shop music. I ended up writing something with a blend of influence from those 4 themes.I wasn't too sure if the feeling would fit a setting like the online app as it seemed a bit melancholy at first, but after some thinking, listening to the Nintendo 3DS themes & scrolling through the Online app, I decided it was just right!

That was one thing I noticed when first listening to the Wave Race soundtrack, the noticeable influence from T-Square!
