Betagames seems to have no idea how to actually make an efficient game and is relying on a heavy use of pre-made blueprints to hack their build together. that can only take you so far. the game feels like its being held together with duct tape and bubble gum, and as an early access title I feel like it's a bad investment. They made $75k+ in crowdfunding alone, but the gameplay at its core is mostly made up of $500 worth of pre-made code and assets. Now they're releasing it for $30. Hell no. Don't buy into the hype. As soon as they can code something that isn't a janky checkpoint chase, then maybe it'll be worth a second look. GTA absolutely fine tuned open world games to an amazing degree, but there were many games already heading in that direction, Rockstar just happened to make it to six gen first. Perhaps that's why people never referred to GTA as a Driver clone. That and Driver 2 came out on the PS1 right when the PS2 was launched. So maybe driver 2 flew under the radar, maybe the controversy spotlighted GTA more, whatever.
