Sunday Live Jamz with Rick Romanelli - Volume 22 - Rumination PGH LiveJamz 2024-01-25 | Hey Folks, new Sunday LiveJamz, Volume 22, first one of 2024. It's probably Sunday somewhere so what the hell let's drop this now. This one came from a session that was recorded last year in September that I finally got around to cleaning up and posting. As always, Sunday LiveJamz segment are totally live and off the cuff with no rehearsal or planning and this one features a track that originated as a piano loop that I extended a little and Rick even added a bass layer for. Had intended to release this as a jam track but I am still on the fence on whether I am going to continue to do those at this point. We'll see where things go but there are so many other folks out there putting out super high quality stuff I might only pop one out when it seems like its unique and would be something you won't get anywhere else (which I think most of my stuff sort of fits into that category with my weird sense and style of music haha). If I hear from folks they wouldn't mind playing through this one I might consider giving it a posting. As far as Tone goes... Today is number 21, hard to believe Rick and I have been able to put this many of these together so far. feelsGroovyMan.jpgToday's backer is a super simple loop that is basically just two chords (F#Major and G#Minor) that has a groove that to me is somewhat reminiscent of a tune by a Pittsburgh Guitar legend, George Benson with his tune Breezin', in listening to it after recording it. I hadn't intended for it to come across as this and this isn't exactly the same chord setup, but Rick pulled out some licks that fit across it all that were very similar to what layers on top of that old tune my Dad used to play all the time. This one originated as an acoustic number but I re-recorded the rhythm part on an electric and added some tremolo and I think it sounds a little better than it did with just acoustic. Simple backing track through otherwise, no bass or anything just me noodling over the rhythm and some drums, ah, organ as well almost forgot that. Went with a slightly harder edge guitar on this one than normal. Tone and Tools and Stuffs:Guitar was handled with the PartsCaster that Mr. Rick Romanelli built for me, it's now my favorite electric guitar. Tone was Wooly Octave for the Rhythm guitar. All other instruments were played on my new Korg i3 (keys, bass, synths, strings, etc...). It has some pretty nice instruments built into it, particularly lovin the wah trumpet that features at the end of this one. My father was stationed there as an American G.I. during Vietnam and often spoke of his time there fondly. He loved the people and the culture. Today's video is from the Cabinet show at Feel Good Farms in mid June 2022. Most folks outside of PA/VT probably haven't encountered these folks but if they are ever in your neck of the woods you should definitely check them out. They put on a fantastic live show and have a great energy about them. Cool vibes all the way around and the band were some nice folks! Was my second time seeing them (missed you guys at Dream Mountain this year but last year was great). I don't know too much about the band or their material yet but I believe this tune is an original (apologies if not, it's been labeled that way). Pedal Steel was an awesome treat!Video quality is not great, tried out the new zoom q8 but the zoom doesn't seem as good as the old iPhone so next time I will probably go back to the iPhone for longer distance shots. Or try to relocate the camera somewhere closer. Audio is crystal though, was a hot signal but it came across with little peaking out so it should sound great. BOSS - Volume 29 - Sunshine Daydream PGH LiveJamz 2022-06-24 | Hey folks, short and sweet BOSS segment to start the weekend. I named this one because I feel like the tone on this patch is reminiscent of Jerry Garcia circa 71-72 which sounds so freaking awesome on the Europe 72 albums. Been looking to find a way to replicate that and this to me sounds pretty darn close (tone wise anyway, not at all trying to say my playing sounds anything like what that dude was capable of). At any rate, I almost threw this one away and didn't do anything with it but Mrs. LiveJamz seems to really dig this one so I added some leads. Hope you all enjoy. I will be posting some live music over the next month or so. Had an opportunity to meet Cabinet, a seriously tight unit from Pennsylvania that I had an opportunity to see play recently over at Feel Good Farms a week or so ago.
