Meet 19-year-old open water swimmer Kamya Bhardwaj (born on July 23, 2006) from Gurugram, Haryana. She has officially set a monumental national record for being the fastest female to achieve a 2-way crossing of the Palk Strait from Dhanushkodi to Talaimannar.
At the young age of just 19 years, 8 months, and 21 days, Kamya conquered the treacherous open waters, swimming from Dhanushkodi (India) to Talaimannar (Sri Lanka) and all the way back to Dhanushkodi! She covered a massive distance of 58 km in an incredible 18 hours and 15 minutes between April 12, 2026, and April 13, 2026. For this phenomenal achievement, she was honored with an official certificate from the Open Water Swimming Academy Theni (OWSAT).
