On September 24th, 2021, 19-year-old Miya Marcano had a shift at her apartments leasing office until 4:30pm. Later that day, she was supposed to catch a flight to Fort Lauderdale to visit family. Unfortunately, Miya never boarded the plane.
When investigators and family entered Miya’s bedroom, they were immediately concerned – the room was in disarray and there were signs that Miya had been taken. When investigators looked into the electronic fob system, they learned a master key had unlocked Miya’s apartment half an hour before her shift ended. The key was traced back to 27-year-old Armando Caballero, a maintenance worker at the complex.
3 days later, Armando was found hanging in a garage. Miya remains missing.
