An immediate smash Hit with fans everywhere upon their introduction, the grand national sport trucks became the premier class of the series when they're bigger, heavier and more powerful counterparts, (Grand National pickups), were dropped in favor of the more agile and exciting competition the smaller trucks are able to provide over a stadium course. taking it logically speaking, this popular machines have come a long way since 1983, when it was not uncommon for them to carry a passenger seat and co-driver. today's GN sport truck (as of 1994) is as sophisticated as any purebred racing machine in Motorsports. designed specifically for stadium offroad racing, they can be of imported or domestic make, with an engine displacement maximum of 2850cc (3 liter or 183 cubic inches). no more than 6 cylinders are allowed, and competitive models cost anywhere from $150,000 to $250,000 to build, and require a like amount for the support needed to run a full season. nearly every team is factory supported.
