On August 9-13th, 1993 the 2nd Annual Elder gathering was held at Waden Bay, on the Northwest end of historic Lac La Ronge. Main purpose was to unite northern Elders to record the rich knowledge they possess, either through cultural activities, traditional lifestyles, languages they use and storytelling. These were recorded for educational purposes and other community interests. Elders from Cumberland House, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay, Deschambault, Sturgeon Landing, La Loche, Buffalo Narrows, Ile a La Crosse, Beauval, Canoe Lake, Patuanak, Wollaston, Black Lake, Stoney Rapdis, Brabant Lake and La Ronge gathered. There were also visitors from other places. elders featured on the video: Janet Fietz, George Paul, Chief Harry Cook, Bart Dzeylion (drumming), Ed Beatty (paddle making), Betsy McKenzie (medicines). Many artists can to demonstrate their skills.
